Can you imagine what it must have felt like to be betrayed by those you knew, to be denied who you were, who you are. Can you imagine what it felt like to be beat, spit on, lashed with a whip, had rocks thrown at your body, and speared in the side. Can you imagine while this physical abuse was taking place how your peers laughed at you, called you names, made fun of you and scoffed at you. Can you imagine carrying your own heavy cross to your own agonizing death and yet doing it with such grace and dignity that you went down in history. Can you imagine going through all of that at the hands of your fellow human beings and still asking your Father to forgive them because they knew not what they were doing. Can you imagine hanging in the air on wooden beams while the weight of your insides tugged away at your spirit, yet called out to God in those very moments to forgive them, the ones who caused your suffering. To be so selfless that you would think of others who had brought you unthinkable pain and harm before yourself even as you hung, even as you died. Can you imagine what it felt like in a human body to slowly die as your insides hung further and further until your body could no longer sustain the pressure and you died a slow agonizing death. To have your insides collapse upon themselves and to feel that happening slowly. All the while you had nails pounded into your hands and feet and a crown of thorns pushed into your head. Our suffering is but only a short time compared to the eternal glory that awaits in Christ. For how much He suffered for us, there is no greater suffering we will ever endure. Jesus took all of our suffering for us at the cross. Nothing can compare to the suffering of Christ. Nothing we have to go through..nothing is as great of a hurt and pain as what Christ experienced and endured for us. We hold grudges for far too long; Jesus hadn't even physically died yet, but He held no grudge toward his persecutors. Not even for a time. He forgave them before they'd even finished carrying out His death. I owe my whole life and my whole being to God and to His Son Jesus Christ. I Thank You Master of all things for your generosity. I thank you Lord for teaching us the greatest love of all. Have mercy on my sinner soul. Have mercy, Lord.
