God is sovereign and He hears everyone who calls upon Him, for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust alike Matthew 5:45. However, access to God and salvation is only possible through His Son Jesus Christ. As it is written, For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5.
While God may show mercy and kindness to anyone, including the unsaved, in response to their prayers, this is not a guarantee that He will grant their requests. God always acts according to His own will and purposes, and His ultimate desire is that all people would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:3-4.
However, we must also understand that it is only through faith in Jesus Christ. In John 14:6, Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
We would certainly hope that through His mercy, He would answer the saved or unsaved person's prayer in response to a dire need and use that as a means to draw that person to Himself. John 6:44 says No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.
Instead of focusing on whether God will answer the prayers of the unsaved, we should focus on the unbeliever's need to be reconciled to God and pray for their salvation. We pray that God would reveal Himself to them, grant them repentance, and lead them to faith in Jesus Christ.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your only begotten Son. We ask that You would have mercy on all who call upon You, saved or unsaved. We pray that You would draw all people to Yourself and grant them the gift of repentance leading to salvation. We ask that You would answer their prayers according to Your will and use every opportunity to reveal Yourself to them. We pray for the salvation of all people in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
If you are uncertain about your faith and religious beliefs, seek God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and you will find Him. For all who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Acts 2:21. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:9,10.
