Glorious Sabbath Day People of God
He said, “Listen to My words: “When there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, reveal Myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams.” [Numbers 12: 6 (NKJV)]
It has been a while since I last wrote to you. Having been without a phone for about six months, I chose to use that time as an opportunity to decrease so that God would increase, and increase He did. Many of the things that He has shown me, and spoken to me, have indeed been confirmed. I will address those confirmations in the days to come. Howbeit, today I want to delve into the Spirit a little bit, through the ministry of the Prophet Elijah. As always, this is only for those cities that have ears to hear.
How can you be certain that you’re operating in the Holy Spirit, rather than some other spirit? Simple. If your spirit opposes God’s instructions, it is at emnity (in opposition) to God. Even Jesus proclaimed, “I seek not to please myself but Him who sent me. [John 5:30 (NKJV)]
The Spirit of Jezebel
While there is no scriptural evidence that Jezebel was ever a prostitute, as Ahab’s wife, she was not only queen of Israel, but a very powerful influence to both her husband, king Ahab as well as the nation of Israel. Unfortunately, in absolute emnity to God, Jezebel misused her leadership to misinfluence and mislead an entire nation. Jezebel’s true nature i.e. (the spirit of Jezebel), especially when operating through a city or nation, is to oppress, manipulate, and even seek to exploit (attempt to usurp, control) the Holy Spirit), oftentimes using violence against God’s messengers to take by force what does not belong to her. Moreover, “the spirit of Jezebel” despises prophecy; rejects God’s gracious message of warning; casts out His messengers; seeks to destroy and even threatens to kill God's messengers. In baal worship, Jezebel, not only practiced, but relied on sacrificial rituals. She believed in the creations rather than the creator. To be certain, as Jezebel did, so also does a city or nation when in opposition to the instructions of God.
The Spirit of The Widow of Zarephath
Though the widow of Zarephath had very little. She certainly had no power, according to man’s standards of power. Yet, she possessed two of the most powerful attributes available to mankind: belief and obobedience. The widow didn’t dishonor Elijah by accusing him of trying to exalt or enrich himself. Nor did she cast him out as a false prophet. While a city may rebel, arguing, “We don’t have to bless you! We’ll just bless everyone else,” the widow of Zarephath understood that it wasn’t just about Elijah, but rather about her faith to trust God for the outcome. Therefore, she simply activated the power she had to listen and follow God’s instructions as delivered through "His messenger." Whom did God use to instruct the widow to bless Elijah? Elijah.
We choose the spirit to engage, therefore we cannot (even as a city) blame the messenger.
What spirit are you operating in. All God requires is that we believe, yet concerning prophecy, we are to test everything, holding on to what is good. What makes prophecy good is not that we like it, or that it tickles our ears, but rather that it comes from “the mouth of God.” Is it written? It’s good.
There is no excuse for slothfulness (laziness) concerning knowledge and understanding of God’s instructions. These days, most of us have the Word of God attached to our hands. All we have to do is download the script(tures). Lift the fork up to our mouths and partake of the scroll.
Certainly, God wants everyone to believe in Him. Yet, He will never force Himself on anyone: “Behold I stand at the door and knock.” God gives us free will. Howbeit, exercising our free will to “not believe” does not stop God from being who He is, or doing what has purposed.
