This is so similar to me and my story. The Lord showed me early on in my stand for my husband and my marriage that I was like Noah, and I was to build an Ark in order to save my precious family of 7. Receive this in Your Spirit Today as I have! In Christ's Love! Theresa
Building an Ark
Recently, I was talking to a friend, and prayer warrior, who had called to check on me. She is always encouraging me in my stand and praying for both me and my husband. As I was talking to her about all God is showing me, I made the comment that sometimes I feel like Noah must have felt when God told him to build an ark on dry land, and then it hit me. That’s exactly what He has called me to do. It makes no sense, there are no signs that God’s promises are on the way, but in spite of what is visible, I still must build this ark and stand for my marriage.
This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth. Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.†Noah did everything just as God commanded him. Genesis 6:9-22
As I went back to read the story of Noah, the first thing that I see is that God called Noah because he was a righteous man. I have made many mistakes in my marriage, but as God convicts and forgives, I am changing to become more like Him. How amazing is it to think that God is calling me to stand because He finds me righteous before Him. It is the prayer I pray daily, and now He is showing me that I am forgiven and ready for a big call on my life.
After God chose Noah, He gave him instructions. He didn’t just say, go build a boat. He gave specific instructions on the size, shape, who would enter, and what to take. God doesn’t leave us to guess what it is He is asking us to do. He tells us how to follow Him. What are the instructions God is laying on your heart? Every situation is unique, so we have to be in fellowship with our Heavenly Father daily for our instructions. He will tell us when to speak, and when to be silent. What to say and how to respond in each and every situation. I pray often that my prodigal will see in me an unconditional love that is a reflection of God. Only by hearing God’s voice and following His instructions, will God be able to fully use us.
The most beautiful piece to this whole passage in scripture comes in verse 22, when is says Noah did EVERYTHING just as God commanded him. Are we doing everything God commands us to do? I pray that we are. As we read these verses, it looks as though God told Noah to do something, he did it, and God fulfilled the promise. But it’s important to realize that Noah was building the ark for, give or take, 100 years. This is when we want to hang our heads and say, I can’t wait that long for this ark to be built. We are tempted to be afraid, but if we truly trust the Lord, we know that His timing is perfect. I’m sure Noah had to wonder from time to time when the promise would occur, but he never stopped following the Lord’s directions. I pray that if it takes 100 days, 100 months, or longer that we don’t give up on the Lord who always keeps His promises.
Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; everyone was fulfilled. Joshua 21:45
The Lord will keep His promises to us. Don’t lose heart, follow after Him, and keep building your ark that leads you to the deliverance God has promised.
