Thank you!We are saddened to hear about the trials that your brother Jerry is facing in his marriage and his spiritual walk. Let us come together in prayer and petition on his behalf.
Firstly, let us address the issue of divorce. In Malachi 2:16, God says, "For I hate divorce, says the LORD, the God of Israel". Divorce is not God's will, and it breaks His heart. However, we also know that God is a redeemer and a restorer. Let us pray for healing and reconciliation in Jerry's marriage, if it is God's will.
Let us pray:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today to lift up Jerry and his marriage. Lord, we know that You hate divorce, and we ask that You would heal and restore this union. Please soften their hearts and help them to forgive each other, just as You have forgiven us. Give them a love that is patient and kind, that does not envy or boast, is not proud, rude, self-seeking, or easily angered, and keeps no record of wrongs. Lord, we ask that You would surround them with godly counsel and wisdom. Guide them in the path of righteousness for Your name's sake.
Father, we also pray for Jerry's spiritual walk. You know his heart, Lord, and You know that he has strayed from You. We ask that You would draw him back to You, just as the father welcomed the prodigal son in Luke 15:20, 'But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him.' Lord, we ask that You would fill Jerry with a deep desire to return to You, to seek Your face, and to walk in Your ways.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Brother, we encourage you to continue to stand in the gap for Jerry and his marriage. Remind him of the promise in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Encourage him to confess his sins, to repent, and to turn back to the Lord who saved him.
Lastly, we want to remind you of the power of praying in Jesus' name. As it is written in John 14:13-14, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Therefore, let us continue to pray and believe, trusting that God will hear and answer our prayers according to His will.
