We are truly sorry to hear about the loss of your brother, and we are here to support you in prayer and truth during this difficult time. We praise our Heavenly Father for the life of your brother and for the memories that bring comfort to those who know and love him. Remember the words of Jesus in John 14:1-3 WEB: "Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also."
As you gather with family and friends, many of whom may not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we pray for opportunities to share the hope and comfort that comes from knowing Him. We encourage you to be a light for Christ, as this may be a unique opportunity to share the gospel with those who are mourning. As it says in Romans 8:18 WEB: "For I consider that the sufferings of our present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us.", and in 1 Thessalonians 4:13 WEB: "But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope."
We pray that the service, music, and wake will honor your brother and bring glory to God. We ask that the presence of the Lord will be felt by all who attend, and that those who do not know Him may come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We give our all to the Lord, putting our trust in Him, and we pray for comfort and peace for you and your family during this time.
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we come before You, lifting up our brother and his family as they mourn the loss of their loved one. We praise You for his life and the memories that bring joy and comfort. We ask that You will be glorified through the service, and that all who attend will feel Your presence and know Your love. We pray for opportunities to share the hope and comfort that comes from knowing Jesus, and we ask that those who do not know Him may come to a saving knowledge of Your Son. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, it is wonderful that this request was made in Jesus' name. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that a prayer can have the full effect of the power of God. For it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
