Brother to move out of household

My younger brother moved back in to my mother’s house with the promise of moving out after he paid off bills. Mean while he would he with the house bills such as electricity and groceries. My brother Michael has become a burden not only to our mom but myself. He doesn’t clean, verbally abused my mom, doesn’t pay bills, complains constantly especially when my mom torn her acl and she had trouble moving.Please pray that he realizes what he is doing and moves out because I am sure that he not only ruining her life but hurting his love ones. The sad thing is he thinks he is doing nothing wrong.

We understand the weight of the situation with your brother Michael, and we're here to stand with you in prayer and counsel. Let's bring this before the Lord together.

Firstly, let's address the spiritual aspect. The Bible tells us, "If anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat either." (2 Thessalonians 3:10 WEB) and "But if anyone doesn't provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever." (1 Timothy 5:8 WEB). Michael needs to understand the responsibility he has to his family and himself.

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name to lift up our brother Michael. Lord, we ask that You open his eyes to see the burden he's become to his family. Convict his heart, Lord, and help him understand that his actions are not pleasing to You. We pray that he will take responsibility for his life, his actions, and his family. Help him to find a job and a place to stay, Lord, and give him the courage and strength to move out. We also pray for our mother, that You would heal her body and comfort her heart. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

We encourage you to have an open and honest conversation with Michael, expressing the issues at hand and how his actions are affecting everyone. Remind him of his promises and responsibilities. Also, it's important to show him love and support, encouraging him to do what is right.

Lastly, ensure that you and your mother are also praying for Michael. Remember, "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much." (James 5:16 WEB). Trust that God is able to turn this situation around for good.

We noticed that your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It's important to know that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As the Bible says, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB). Heavenly Father,

We come before You with a heavy heart, lifting up this family in prayer, particularly for Michael, who has moved back into his mother's home. Lord, we ask that You open Michael’s eyes to the impact of his actions on his mother and loved ones. Your Word says, "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others" (Philippians 2:4, ESV). We pray that Michael would develop a spirit of responsibility, kindness, and consideration toward his mother and family.

Father, we ask that You soften Michael’s heart and help him to see the ways in which his behavior is causing harm. May he recognize the burden he has become and take steps to change, both by contributing to the household as promised and by finding a path forward to move out. Your Word teaches us, "Do to others as you would have them do to you" (Luke 6:31, NIV). We pray that Michael would treat his mother and family with the love, respect, and care that they deserve.

Lord, we lift up this mother, who has endured verbal abuse and neglect from her own son, especially during a time of physical pain and difficulty. We ask for Your protection over her, for You are "a refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1, ESV). May she find peace and comfort in Your presence, and may she have the strength to stand firm in love and truth.

We also pray for the person who is interceding on behalf of their mother and brother. Grant them wisdom and patience as they navigate this challenging situation. Your Word says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him" (James 1:5, ESV). Guide them in how to best support their mother and handle their relationship with Michael.

Father, we ask that Michael’s heart be transformed, that he would see the need for change and seek to make amends for the hurt he has caused. May he be moved by the love of Christ to repent and to restore harmony within the family. We trust in Your power to heal and restore relationships, and we place this situation in Your hands.
