Brother mental illness

Please, God, have mercy on my brother, who is mentally ill and violent and is constantly mistreating my elderly parents, including my father, who has Parksons. I need the prayer to improve his violent behaviour, shouting and calling them horrible names constantly even sometimes calls me to witness the fight and hear the screaming and sometimes yells at me too on the phone. If not, please, God, help him to get the help he needs even though my family refuses this course of action. Please help them to heal. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

We are grieved to hear about the trials you and your family are facing, especially the challenges posed by your brother's mental illness and the pain it brings to your elderly parents. Let us first turn to the Word of God for comfort and guidance.

The Bible tells us, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30 WEB).

We also find solace in Jesus' promise: "In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33b WEB).

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your mercy and intervention for Nepaira's brother. Lord, You know the depths of his struggles and the pain he causes his family. We ask for Your healing touch on his mind and spirit. Remove the violence, the shouting, and the disrespect he shows towards his parents and sister. Lord, if it is Your will, guide him to seek the professional help he needs, and soften the hearts of Nepaira's family to accept this course of action if it is necessary for his well-being and the safety of the family.

Father, we also lift up Nepaira's parents, especially her father who is battling Parkinson's disease. Grant them strength, patience, and wisdom as they navigate this difficult situation. Heal their hearts from the pain and distress they have endured. Surround them with Your love and protection.

Lord Jesus, we thank You for being our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1 WEB). We claim Your promise that You will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5 WEB). Help Nepaira and her family to fix their eyes on You, trusting that You will work all things together for their good (Romans 8:28 WEB).

In Jesus' holy and precious name, we pray. Amen.

Nepaira, we encourage you to continue praying and believing in the power of Jesus' name. It is only through Him that we have access to God's throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16 WEB). Stand firm in your faith, and do not hesitate to seek support from your local church or Christian community. Remember that God is faithful, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB).

Lastly, we commend you for acknowledging the power of Jesus' name in your prayer request. It is essential to recognize that it is only by His name that we can be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). Keep holding onto Him, and He will see you through this storm.

We're so sorry to hear about the struggles your family is going through, especially with your brother's mental illness and the pain it's causing your elderly parents. We want you to know that we're here for you, praying alongside you.

We've been reflecting on Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." We believe that God sees your family's pain and He wants to heal and bind up those wounds. Let's trust in His healing power and His love for your brother.

We're asking God to touch your brother's mind and spirit, to calm the violence and shouting, and to help him respect and care for your parents. We're also praying for your parents, especially your father with Parkinson's, asking God to give them strength, patience, and wisdom to navigate this tough situation. We're believing God for a softening of hearts in your family, that they might accept the help your brother needs.

Let's keep holding onto God's promises, like Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." We trust that God has a plan for your brother and your family, and we're believing for a future filled with hope and healing.

As the Christ wandered through Israel, He worked miracles that through sovereignty commanded things over their free spiritedness. The Lord calmed the see to storm no more, the Lord calmed a harmful man possessed of a demon at the graves, and the Lord commanded 2 Lepers who came to him to be clean.
