We are truly sorry to hear that you're feeling this way, but we want to remind you that there is hope and comfort to be found in Jesus Christ. It's important to remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12
The devil would like nothing more than to keep you bound by your past mistakes and to steal your joy. But remember, God sent His Son to die for those mistakes. To set us free from the bondage of Satan, our sin, and condemnation. Jesus said,
"The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly." John 10:10
It's also important to remember that,
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." Romans 8:1
and
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
We need to take every thought captive in obedience to Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;
This means when these thoughts come into your head, you need to cast them down and replace them with the truth of God's word.
We also need to be transformed by the renewing of our minds,
Romans 12:2
Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Remember that you can't change the past, but you can learn from it and use it to help others. God can use your story to help others who are going through the same thing.
We also want to remind you that it is only in the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said,
"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
The basic salvation message is to believe in Jesus Christ. Confess your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart and be your Lord and Savior.
Let's pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our dear friend who is feeling so low in spirit right now. Lord, we know that You are close to the brokenhearted, and we ask that You would comfort and heal their hurts right now. Help them to fix their thoughts on You and Your truth. Help them to cast down those thoughts that are not from You.
Lord, we also lift up their family. Comfort them in their pain and help them to support each other in love.
Father, we ask that You would give our friend strength to bring every thought into captivity to obey Christ. Help them to renew their mind daily with Your word.
We pray for Jesus Christ to be the center of their life and to come into their heart as their Lord and Savior if they have not asked Him to already.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
If you ever feel overwhelmed, please reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or counselor. Remember that you are never alone, and that there is always hope in Jesus Christ.
Keep holding on to God's promises and keep fighting the good fight of faith.
1 Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.
