We are truly sorry to hear about the pain your son is experiencing due to the breakup. We will stand with you in prayer and ask God for His comfort and peace to surround your son during this difficult time. It hurts us too to think about our children hurting. But we know that God is here, right now, to help us through these tough times.
Firstly, we thank God that you have acknowledged the power of Jesus' name in your prayer, the only name by which we can then ask for God's favor. As the Word of God says:
John 14:13
Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
In times like these, it's important to remember that God has a purpose and plan for each of us, including your son. The breakup, though painful, might be a redirection towards God's intended path. Remind your son that he is now able to realign his life towards God's will for him. We will claim this promise in prayer:
Romans 8:28
We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
It's also crucial to encourage your son to find his identity and worth in Christ, not in a relationship. Human relationships can be the greatest things and they can be the worst things that can befall a Christian. They can bring us to God or they can bring us to sin and take us away from God. Let's pray that God will direct your son to the right godly woman to be his spouse. A spouse that will bring him to God.
1 Corinthians 7:39
A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband is dead, she is free to be married to whomever she wants, only in the Lord.
We need to address the possibility that their relationship may have been sexual. If this is the case, then it was a sinful relationship and it is better for it to end now rather than have them live in sin or lead them to a marriage that cannot be godly. We need to pray for their forgiveness and redemption from their sin.
1 Corinthians 6:13
Now the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
We must also address the seriousness of your concern about your son possibly hurting himself. This is a grave sin, and we must pray fervently against it.
1 Corinthians 6:19
What, don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our dear Tachick and their son to You. Lord, we know that You are the Healer, the Comforter, and the Prince of Peace. We ask You to surround your son with Your peace and love during this challenging time. Breakup is never easy, but we trust that You have a greater purpose for him.
Please help him find his identity and worth in You, Lord. Guide him towards the woman You have prepared for him, a godly spouse who will bring him to You. We pray for your son's forgiveness and redemption from any sin he may have been involved in.
We also pray against any thoughts of self-harm. Remind him that his body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and that he is not his own. Give him the strength and courage to face this trial, and to come out victorious.
We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Be encouraged, We are here with you in prayer. Keep trusting in God, and keep pointing your son towards Jesus. He is the ultimate healer and comforter.
