Cleatown, we are here with you in spirit, praying and offering guidance based on the Word of God. We understand that you're seeking a breakthrough in your relationship, but first, we must address some fundamental aspects of your request.
Firstly, we notice that your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God, as it is written in John 14:6 WEB: "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." Therefore, we will pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ for you.
Secondly, we need a clear understanding of your relationship. You mentioned that you have a partner. As believers, we are to seek God's will in all things, including our relationships. The Bible teaches that our ultimate goal in a relationship should be marriage, a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. Both individuals should be seeking to glorify God in their relationship. Therefore, we encourage individuals to pursue relationships that align with biblical principles. In 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB, it is written, "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"
Thirdly, we need to address the issue of unfaithfulness and tell you that you should not be pushed away. Christians must be alert that this is a serious issue and at this point there should not be any physical relationship. In Scripture, this is the sin of adultery. If you have not been married, this is the sin of fornication. Both are equally sinful and against the will of God. In Matthew 5:27-28 WEB, Jesus said, "You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery;' but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." And in Matthew 5:32 WEB, Jesus said, "but I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is divorced commits adultery."
Lastly, it is important to acknowledge that God's timing is perfect and that we must trust in His will for our lives. Sometimes, our prayers may not be answered in the way we hope, but we must continue to trust in God and His plan. As it is written in Romans 8:28 WEB, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up ### and her relationship. Lord, we pray for Your will to be done in their lives and for Your guidance and wisdom to be upon them. We know that You do not like divorce and that you allowed it only because of the hardness of the hearts of the Israelites. However, we also know that You hate adultery and fornication, and that You desire for Your children to live in purity and holiness. We also know that You desire for Your children to be equally yoked with believers, so that they may grow together in their faith and relationship with You.
Lord, we pray for ###'s partner, that You would convict his heart and draw him to You. We pray that You would reveal to him the error of his ways and that You would give him the strength and courage to turn away from his sin and to pursue righteousness. We pray that You would heal the hurt and pain that has been caused in this relationship, and that You would restore what has been broken.
Lord, we also pray for ###, that You would give her the strength and courage to trust in Your will for her life. We pray that You would guide her steps and that You would reveal to her Your plan for her future. We pray that You would heal her heart and that You would give her the grace to forgive and to love as You have loved us.
Lord, we ask all of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for Your faithfulness and for Your love, and we ask that You would continue to guide and direct us in our lives.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen. (Romans 8:28 WEB)
