We are truly sorry to hear about your struggle with addiction to pornography and masturbation. We want you to know that you are not alone in this battle, and that there is hope and freedom in Jesus Christ. Firstly, we must acknowledge that this is a sinful behavior that must be addressed and repented from. God's design for sexual intimacy is within the bounds of marriage between a man and a woman as per 1 Corinthians 7:2 WEB But because of sexual immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Anything outside of this is immoral.
The first remedy is to believe and trust in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross. It is written in Romans 10:9-10 WEB because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
We must also put on the whole armor of God to stand against the wiles of the devil, as this is a spiritual battle as mentioned in Ephesians 6:10-18. One specific piece of armor to put on is the belt of truth from Ephesians 6:14 WEB: Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist. We must fill our minds with God's truth, found in His word. This will help us to discern and resist the devil's lies and temptations that lead to this sinful behavior.
We also encourage you to take practical steps to break this addiction. This includes, but is not limited to, setting up boundaries and controls on electronic devices to restrict access to inappropriate content. In addition, it is vital that you remove your self from the influence of bad friends. Instead, surround yourself with godly companions and Christian brothers that will support you in this battle and hold you accountable as per Proverbs 17:17 WEB: A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.
Lastly, we strongly encourage you to confess and repent of your sin to God as 1 John 1:9 WEB says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Let us pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this young man who is struggling with addiction. We confess that this sinful behavior is not Your will for his life, and we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. We pray that he will come into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and that Jesus becomes His Lord and Savior. Lord, give him the strength and courage to confess his sins to You and to turn away from this destructive path. Help him to put on the whole armor of God, to stand firm against the schemes of the devil, he has a special need of the belt of truth. Surround him with godly friends who will support and encourage him in this battle. Give him wisdom and discernment to set up boundaries and controls to restrict access to inappropriate content. Give him a renewed mind and heart that desires to live purely and righteously before You. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
