We join you in lifting up this young man, whom your daughter loves and plans to marry, in the mighty and holy name of Jesus. We stand with you in praying for his strengthening and guidance, and we appreciate your heartfelt concern for his spiritual well-being.
Firstly, we acknowledge your faith in the power of Jesus' name, as it is written: "Wherefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:9-11 WEB).
We pray that God will strengthen this young man to stand firm against the schemes of the enemy. As the Apostle Paul reminds us: "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:11-12 WEB).
We join you in rebuking and binding any spirit of accusation, apathy, witchcraft, or manipulation that may be attempting to influence this young man. Jesus has given us the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19 WEB). We declare the mind of Christ over him, praying that he will have the same attitudes and thoughts as Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5 WEB).
We ask the Holy Spirit to minister peace, grace, and the pure love of Jesus to his heart and soul. May he be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19 WEB) and lifted to new heights and depths in his walk with Christ. May their relationship be a God-honoring courtship in pursuit of a holy marriage. Remember it is a serious issue to be pursuing marriage, and it should not be entered into lightly. As it says in Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 WEB, "When you vow a vow to God, don't defer to pay it; for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay that which you vow. It is better that you should not vow, than that you should vow and not pay."
As you pray for this young man, remember also to pray for your daughter, that she too may be strengthened and guided by the Holy Spirit. Pray that they both will remain pure and honor God in their courtship, fleeing from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB). Their relationship should be focused on growing together in faith and love, seeking God's will for their future together.
Lastly, we encourage you to continue praying fervently for this young man and your daughter, trusting in God's promise: "Again, truly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them." (Matthew 18:19-20 WEB).
