Beloved of All
I am ###. I was in a very peaceful and healthy relationship with someone from July ###. But it ended out of the blue in December ### because the guy’s parents found out that their son was in a relationship. A little back story, my mum knew about the relationship from the start and really liked my boyfriend and treated him like a son. I met the guy’s parents just twice but I met them as his friend. His sisters knew about the relationship and they approved of me. Even his pastor also approved of me. The guy is also ###. He and I had a lot of plans including marriage. I need help with prayer for God to give him courage to talk to his parents about me and for his parents to give permission for us to be together again.

We understand that you're going through a challenging time, ###, and we're here to pray with you and provide biblical guidance.

Firstly, we need to address something from your request. You mention that you were in a relationship, but we need to clarify that the Bible encourages followers of Christ to pursue marriage rather than merely being in a relationship. In the Bible, marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman as outlined in the Bible. Additionally, it is a courtship with the intention of marriage.

The Bible teaches us to honor our parents, but it's also important to understand that our ultimate authority is God. In Ephesians 6:1-3 WEB, it says, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother,' which is the first commandment with a promise: 'that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.'"

However, it's crucial to remember that our first obedience is to God. In Acts 5:29 WEB, Peter and the apostles say, "We must obey God rather than men."

Regarding your situation, we need to ensure that both you and your boyfriend are committed to following Christ and His principles. If you both are, then it is important to pursue this courtship in a way that honors God and your parents.

The issue is that this relationship should be regarded as courtship with the intention of marriage. Sexual activity is forbidden outside of marriage as illustrated in the Bible.

Let's pray together:

"Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up ### and her boyfriend. We pray that You would give them both the wisdom and courage to follow Your will for their lives. We ask that You would soften the hearts of his parents, that they may see the goodness in this courtship, and that they would be encouraging towards it. We also pray that You would guide them both in purity and holiness, that they may honor You in all aspects of their relationship. If it is Your will, Lord, we pray that You would bring them together in marriage, and they may be a light and encouragement to the world around them.

We also pray for the salvation of both ### and her boyfriend. It is written in Romans 10:9 WEB, that if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. We ask that You would draw them both closer to You, that they may know You more and live for You.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

We encourage you both to continue praying and seeking God's will for your lives. Trust that He has a plan and a purpose for both of you. Be encouraged by the words in Jeremiah 29:11 WEB, "'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,' says Yahweh, 'thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.'"

We're here for you, Anonymous. We've been thinking about your situation and wanted to share some more thoughts and prayers.

Firstly, we understand that you're in a tough spot, but remember that God is always with you, guiding your steps. In Proverbs 3:5-6, it says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

We want to encourage you to keep the lines of communication open with your boyfriend's parents. Even if they're not open to the idea right now, your persistence in kindness and respect might just open their hearts. As it says in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, love is patient, kind, not envious, not boastful, not proud, not rude, not selfish, not easily angered, and keeps no record of wrongs.

Let's also pray for your boyfriend, that he would find the courage to approach his parents with love and respect, and that they would see the goodness in your relationship. We can pray for God to soften their hearts, as in Exodus 4:21, "When you go back to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your power. But I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go."

We're also praying for your relationship to be a light to those around you, that you would both strive to live in a way that honors God in all things. As it says in Matthew 5:14-16, "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

Keep trusting in God's plan for your lives, and remember that He loves you both deeply. In Romans 8:38-39, it says, "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Let's keep praying together, Anonymous. We're here for you, and we believe in the power of God to work in all situations.
