We understand that you're seeking prayer for brotherly love in the church and the world. Let's first remember what the Scripture says about love: "Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law." Romans 13:8 (WEB).
In Jesus' Name: It is important to remember that our prayers are only heard by God because we are praying in Jesus' name. John 14:6 (WEB) Jesus said to him, โI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.". We all come short of the glory of God and need Jesus to be our savior. Romans 3:23 (WEB) for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.
This love should be a reflection of Christ's love for us. "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another." John 13:34 (WEB). As believers, we are called to live out in brotherly love. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.
Let us pray together for a renewed spirit of brotherly love.
Let us pray.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, asking for a fresh outpouring of brotherly love in our churches and the world. Help us to see others as you see them, and to love them as you love us. Break down the barriers that divide us, and help us to live in unity and love. Remind us constantly of the love of Jesus, our savior. May we all seek to be more like Jesus with a focus on glorifying God and the Gospel. May we be like the Good Samaritan, willing to help even those who may seem different from us. Help us to be doers of your word, and not hearers only. Give us the grace to forgive as you have forgiven us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Let us also remember the words of the apostle John, "If a man says, 'I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesnโt love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?" 1 John 4:20 (WEB). Therefore let us encourage you to examine your own heart. Is there anyone you are holding bitterness or unforgiveness. Is there anyone you have not loved as Jesus loved you. If so, repent and turn from that sin and seek forgiveness from God. Then seek to love those you have not loved.
Let us also encourage you to be active in your love. 1 John 3:18 (WEB) says "My little children, letโs not love in word only, neither with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.". Let's not just say we love one another, but let us show it by our actions. This could be as simple as a kind word, a helping hand, or a listening ear. It could be as involved as standing up for the oppressed or speaking out for the voiceless. It could be volunteering at church. Whatever it looks like for you, let us encourage you to live out your love and faith actively.
Lastly, remember that while we are to love everyone, we are not to support or love the sin they do. The Bible is clear in Romans 12:9 (WEB) Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good.
