In the name of Jesus Christ, we come together to seek God's will and guidance for you. We understand that you're seeking discernment between blind faith and stepping out on faith, especially in situations that may seem risky to the world, such as leaving a harmful job or an abusive situation without a clear plan. We applaud you for listing to the name of Jesus as the only name under which we can approach God. (Acts 4.12)
Firstly, let's consider what the Word of God says about faith and the steps we take. In Hebrews 11:1, faith is defined as "the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Furthermore, in 2 Corinthians 5:7, we are encouraged to "walk by faith, not by sight." Stepping out on faith, therefore, is not about making reckless decisions, but about trusting in God's promises and guidance even when the path ahead is unclear.
Blind faith, on the other hand, is not biblical. God does not ask us to make decisions without discernment and wisdom. In fact, He encourages us to seek His will in all things. In James 1:5, we are told, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
Regarding your examples, it's important to note that God cares about our well-being and safety. If a job is harming your well-being, or if you're in an abusive situation, God wants you to be safe and whole. However, He also wants us to use wisdom in our decisions. This might mean seeking counsel, making plans, and praying for God's guidance and provision.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who seeks discernment between blind faith and stepping out on faith. Lord, grant him the wisdom to know when to stay and when to go, and the faith to trust in Your promises. Guide him to godly counselors who can speak Your truth into his life. We pray for Your protection and provision over him, and for Your will to be done in his life.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, God is faithful and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) Trust in Him, seek His will, and He will direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Lastly, if you have not already, it is important to believe in Jesus Christ who was raised from the dead to be saved. (Romans 10.9) Make sure you have done so if you have not already. If you have further questions about this basic salvation message please let us know.
