We understand that you are facing a significant financial burden and harassment from various banks and individuals. Firstly, we commend you for coming in the name of Jesus, as it is only through Him that we have access to God and can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
In times of financial strain and debt, we should first remember 2 Timothy 4:9, »and God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.« And you have remembered to turn to God as you mentioned, this is good. Often, financial difficulties arise from poor decisions or living beyond our means, violating 1 Timothy 6:8 WEB: "Having food and clothing, we will be content with that". But being in debt from a bank is different than being beholden to another person as the bank is not your master, but God is. "Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law" is stated in Romans 13:8 WEB: "Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody,". You also mentioned you are being harassed by these banks. You should trust the Lord and tell the collection banks that you are only responsible for paying back what you borrowed, not fees or interest, and they should only contact you in writing. If any contact your friends or family, they are in violation of the law. They often will threaten much that they are not legally allowed to do. But the real solution is to get yourself in order with God, put your house in order spiritually and God will do the same for you physically. Let's pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before you in Jesus’ name, lifting up Roshan. Lord, we ask for your forgiveness of his sins, of their past mistakes and their decisions relating to their debt. We pray for your divine intervention in their financial situation. We ask that you guide Roshan to seek proper counsel in managing these debts. And if it is according to your will, have the people and companies to whom Roshan is indebted to stop all harassment and threatening tactics and that the calls and threats cease. And guide Roshan through this trial, strengthen them in their new job, honor God in the workplace as to not jeopardize it.
Lord, we ask that you provide Roshan with the wisdom and resources to repay all debts fairly, that you open the doors for a loan from ICICI Bank of 5 lakh if it is according to your will, and set them free as guided by scripture. We know that ultimately guidance into all truth is from Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Lord, please carry this burden of Roshan and provide peace and resolution in this situation moving forward.
Lord, we also pray for the salvation of Sagar, Sunil and Santosh. We pray that if they do not know Jesus Christ as Lord, that you guide others to witness to them, and that Roshan may also have an opportunity to witness to them and about the goodness of God, as exemplified in Jesus, that they would know Jesus will forgive and save them if they believe and confess "Jesus is Lord". We pray for a solution to all these problems, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen."
We encourage Roshan to study and meditate on the following scriptures to gain God’s perspective on debt and finances. These biblical truths are Matthew 6:24-34 WEB:
But Roshan, do not ignore the spirit of God as to not pay what you owe by trying to get out of paying. but rather find a way to pay your debts, set your house in order and God will bless you in the workplace and all you do. By not paying your debts according to the terms you agreed, you are also breaking the commands from scripture:
"If you borrow money from someone under the covenant of paying it back, are you not required to do so? Or by entering into a covenant to make payment to a bank, do you not break your word by misrepresenting to them the word of God to get out of your debts? And by entering into a covenant with a bank do you not break your word by misrepresenting to them the word of God to get out of your debts? Romans 1:31 WEB: This is not fair towards them and is violating biblical principles and the contracts you agreed to."
Look at Jesus who paid our debts for sin which we could never pay, and even more than we owed in death, but we are also to set a good example and pay our debts:
»Give to every man what you owe: If you owe Abraham taxes, tithes or revenues.(In your case, other individuals, credit card companies or banks) Give to Abraham what you owe him. You owe custom to Caesar? Give to Caesar. Give to God what you owe him, and to each individual what you owe them.« Romans 13:7.
Consider carefully this example of Jesus. It is because of his sacrifice, we can now live. So pray for guidance in this situation. Amen.
