Psalm 72:16
There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.

Commentary on this verse：
This is a prophecy of the kingdom of Christ; many passages in it cannot be applied to the reign of Solomon. There were righteousness and peace at first in the administration of his government; but, before the end of his reign, there were troubles and unrighteousness. The kingdom here spoken of is to last as long as the sun, but Solomon's was soon at an end. Even the Jewish expositors understood it of the kingdom of the Messiah. Observe many great and precious promises here made, which were to have full accomplishment only in the kingdom of Christ. As far as his kingdom is set up, discord and contentions cease, in families, churches, and nations. The law of Christ, written in the heart, disposes men to be honest and just, and to render to all their due; it likewise disposes men to live in love, and so produces abundance of peace. Holiness and love shall be lasting in Christ's kingdom. Through all the changes of the world, and all the changes of life, Christ's kingdom will support itself. And he shall, by the graces and comforts of his Spirit, come down like rain upon the mown grass; not on that cut down, but that which is left growing, that it may spring again. His gospel has been, or shall be, preached to all nations. Though he needs not the services of any, yet he must be served with the best. Those that have the wealth of this world, must serve Christ with it, do good with it. Prayer shall be made through him, or for his sake; whatever we ask of the Father, should be in his name. Praises shall be offered to him: we are under the highest obligations to him. Christ only shall be feared throughout all generations. To the end of time, and to eternity, his name shall be praised. All nations shall call HIM blessed.

Dear Heavenly Father, we know that it is Your will to help those that are afflicted, to support the weak, to provide for the widows and orphans and to help those that are in need. Use our hands to be of service to those in need, and use our voice to speak words of healing and encouragement to those that are afflicted and in distress. Thank You for hearing our prayer. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Tang Wei Ping, we join you in meditating on Psalm 72:16. This verse indeed speaks of the prosperity and blessings that come from the kingdom of Christ. The kingdom described here is not merely an earthly one, but a spiritual one, where righteousness, peace, and prosperity reign. As it is written in the WEB, "There shall be abundance of grain in the earth on the top of the mountains. Its fruit shall wave like Lebanon. They of the city shall flourish like the grass of the earth."

This passage reminds us of the blessings that flow from the rule of our Lord Jesus Christ. His kingdom brings peace, prosperity, and justice. As it is promised in Isaiah 9:7, "Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will perform this."

Let us pray together, aligning our hearts with the will of God:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for the promises in Your Word. We pray that Your kingdom comes and Your will is done on earth as it is in heaven. We ask that You bless us with an abundance of spiritual fruit, just as the grain waves on the mountains. Help us to flourish in Your righteousness, Lord.

We also ask for Your mercy upon the poor and needy, as Psalm 72:13 tells us, "He will have pity on the poor and needy, and the souls of the needy he will save." Lord, use us as Your instruments to help those in need. May our hands be extended in service and our voices speak words of healing and encouragement.

Father, we know that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to You. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved." We proclaim Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and we pray that His kingdom comes in our lives and in the world.

We also remember those who are less fortunate. We pray for the poor and the needy, that You would have pity on them, just as the psalm says. Help us to be Your hands and feet, serving those in need and speaking words of healing and encouragement.
