I've seen this several times-someone starts out "small" with a certain sin, but then it "grows" until the devil has them hooked.Like..for example...could be with drugs, the person starts off with a few "tokes" here and there of pot. {Quote--"Yeah the other drugs are chemical, but pot is natural, man.And I only have a few puffs once a week". {Meaning, they only "start out with" a few puffs once a week, then the thought gets in their head that since it's "harmless" anyway, a few more puffs, then add another day to it, until it's daily, then try another drug, etc.} Gambling." I just went to the casino or the horse track once." At first..then when seeing they didn't win by the time their "allowance money" was spent, ah, what's another $$.. still didn't win, and so on , and people have spent their rent money several times and are in danger of eviction!!I heard of someone a while back who had problems right after marriage, and couldn't pay nessesary bills because of spending too much on gambling. Adultery.."We're sitting in the office bored every day, even though we're both married , no harm in flirting a little." But then , they come to like it, and it gets more "suggestive" in nature, and before you know it it evolves into full fledged "friends with benefits", like a "semi sexual' relationship.{Lucky if it stays "semi" sexual.} Point?Well, what I think the message here is, is that sin doesn't always just "blast at you" full bore all at once, it "sneaks in" little by little until you're trapped. Once you get started, you open the door. I think that's the devil telling them, "it's nothing " until one day, before you know it, he's got them! The devils job is to mislead. What did Genesis say?"Now the serpent was more SUBTLE than all the beasts of the field."Even in one of the Hal Lindsey books I read, he states,"That's how the devil operates. He plants a thought here, an idea there, until before you know it you're hooked ". From what I've shared, I would agree! Yes?
