Bereaved and sad

I'm a ### year old man who works to live and am alone but not lonely in the world.
I've lost a friend, a dear friend of 18 years who was my soul mate...
We had lost contact for a little while and I feared the worst. You see for the past few months they had become very ill.
I decided to check the obituaries today and very unfortunately they had passed back in ###.
No one bothered to tell me...
I'm just slowly dealing with my assorted emotions and praying.

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up ### in prayer. Lord, You know the pain and sorrow he is experiencing after the loss of his dear friend and soulmate of 18 years. Your Word tells us in Psalm 34:18 that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit. We ask that You draw near to ### during this difficult time and provide him with Your comfort and peace.

Lord, we pray that You help ### navigate through his assorted emotions and find solace in Your presence. In Matthew 5:4, You promise that those who mourn will be comforted. We ask that You fulfill this promise in ###'s life, wrapping him in Your loving arms and giving him the strength to endure this season of grief.

Father, we also pray for ###'s heart to be filled with the hope and assurance that his friend is now in Your eternal care. May he find comfort in the memories they shared and the love that will always remain in his heart. Help him to feel Your presence and know that he is never truly alone, for You are always with him.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Merciful father, may you please guide ###'s friend to spend his new life with you should it be your will.

I also pray that his loneliness may be relieved by his awareness of the constant presence of the Holy Angels as well as the Holy Spirit. The Lord surely walks with you all of the days of your life. We are never alone. May we always hold this awareness in our hearts when we begin to feel loneliness.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, the only son of the Father. Amen.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
