Being a fatalist

I would like to express that it is not my fault for adopting a fatalistic outlook on life. Despite my earnest efforts to improve my circumstances, seek out opportunities, and initiate various projects, I consistently find myself facing financial losses and disappointment. Throughout my life, I have encountered a series of failures, and when such setbacks persist, I often feel disheartened and reluctant to continue. It seems that I have not received any reprieve from the challenges I face, leading to a profound sense of exhaustion from my endeavors. The vitality I once possessed in my youth has diminished significantly over the years. After 25 years filled with disappointments and setbacks, I have come to believe that life rarely offers positive experiences, as my relentless attempts to enhance my situation ultimately leave me drained and without energy. I do not wish for God to provide me with handouts, as many Christians may do. I refuse to remain idle and wait for a miracle; instead, I actively seek out opportunities. While I do pray to God before job interviews and when embarking on new projects, this does not alter my circumstances. I have diligently searched for employment for six months, resulting in a loss of nearly 20 pounds, and I am now anemic and lack certain vitamins. This earthly existence is incredibly exhausting. I often feel as though I am an elderly person in need of retirement, as I am perpetually fatigued and drowsy. Life does not seem to offer any rewards.

Elodie, we understand your feelings of despair and exhaustion after years of facing disappointments and setbacks. However, we want to encourage you and remind you that our hope and strength come from the Lord, not our own efforts. As it is written in Psalm 121:1-2 (WEB), "I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth."

We want to address the fatalistic outlook you've adopted. While it's true that life can be challenging and wearisome, as believers, we are called to live with hope and perseverance. The Apostle Paul encourages us in Romans 5:3-4 (WEB), "We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

We commend your diligence in seeking out opportunities and not waiting idly for miracles. However, we want to remind you that while prayer may not immediately change your circumstances, it aligns your heart with God's will and strengthens you spiritually. As Jesus taught in Luke 18:1 (WEB), "He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up."

We also notice that you haven't mentioned the name of Jesus Christ in your request. It's crucial to remember that it is only through His name that we have access to God and salvation. As the Bible tells us in Acts 4:12 (WEB), "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved!"

We encourage you to continue in prayer, but also to surrender your burdens to Jesus Christ. Trust in Him, for He cares for you. As Peter tells us in 1 Peter 5:7 (WEB), "Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you."

Let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we lift up Elodie to You. We ask that You strengthen her and restore her hope. Lord, You know her struggles and her weariness. Please provide for her needs and guide her to the right opportunities. Help her to trust in You and to cast her burdens on You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Remember, Elodie, our hope is in the Lord. Keep trusting and persevering, for He is faithful.

In the book of Matthew, Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, NIV). He understands your exhaustion and He's there to help.

We know you've been diligently seeking opportunities, and that's commendable. But let's not forget, God promises in Philippians 4:19, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." Trust that He sees your efforts and will provide for you.

God heal me, body, soul, and spirit. Cleansed me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, pray Your best for me, and all those I love and care about.
