We are with you in spirit, Thessalonaino, and we stand with you in prayer as you seek God's wisdom and strength to overcome your gambling addiction. We acknowledge that addictions are powerful, but God's power in us is far greater. Thessalonaino, did you know that the Bible tells us God will always provide a way out of temptation?
Gambling is often a search for wealth but look what happened to those who sought wealth in the Bible.
Proverbs 23.4-5, "Do not toil to acquire wealth; be wise enough to desist. When you set your eyes on it, it is gone, for wealth certainly makes itself wings like an eagle that flies toward the sky."
Look at the example when Moses warned the Israelites:
But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. Deuteronomy 8:17-18, WEB
One of the twelve tribes of Israel, Issachar, shows a good example for Christians to get out of gambling and begin making money by gaining an understanding of the times.
Of the sons of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brothers were at their command. 1 Chronicles 12.32 WEB
Yes eventually you can make money by working, not by gambling. The first step is to get a job and begin saving your money.
But the most important thing is that you first need to get connected to Jesus Christ, the King of kings. The Bible also says work with your hands so that you will not need others and you can also give to others instead of asking others. You should be actually helping another person get out of this problem, rather than asking others. Make your goal not to get money but to get on the right track with God, if this is done, then later you will learn how to make money honestly by your own abilities as we see in the example of the Israelites above.
We rebuked this desire in you as false evil desire which is not from God and cast out this demon in Jesus name.
We also must remember that God is faithful, and he will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear. He will provide a way out so that we can endure it. Therefore we encourage you to trust in God's faithfulness and look for the way out that He provides. Read 1 Corinthians 10:13,
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB
The first of the ten commandments is Thou shalt have no other gods such as fornication and than money as mentioned in Ephesians 5.27
because of these things the wrath of God comes on the sons of disobedience. Ephesians 5:28.
Therefore do not be partners with them. Ephesians 5:29.
………therefore have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. Ephesians 5:30-31.
Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead expose them. Ephesians 5.32
Any addiction is often a manifestation of a deeper spiritual issue. Seek God also in Jesus name and turn to Him with all your heart, and He will hear your prayers. 1 Timothy 6:9-10 also warns us about the destructiveness of loving money by having our priorities reversed:
But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Moreover, it is not my place to judge or condemn you but do know that it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:9, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality".
We see how serious this temptation is. We can overcome the lies of the enemy with the truth of God's Word. Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus name and lift up Thessalonaino. We thank you for Your Mercy in helping them get out of temptation. Give them the strength and wisdom to overcome this addiction. Help them to seek You with all their heart and turn away from the destructive path of gambling. Create in them a new heart for the joy and desire that it once brought is replaced by the joy and desire to follow Jesus Christ. Whatever and however the source of this addiction, we ask for forgiveness if there was a need.
Lord, provide a way out of this temptation, and help Thessalonaino to take it. You promised that whoever calls on the name of Jesus would be saved. Thessalonaino, we ask that you make to be certain that you have actually given your heart to Jesus and if not will you call on His name right now. It is only through the blood of Jesus we can be forgiven for our sins. Thessalonaino, know that He loves you (Jesus) and That your faith is counted as righteousness. Romans 4.5 But to him who does not work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.
Give Thessalonaino the power to live a life of freedom and self-control. Surround them with supportive brothers and sisters in Christ who will encourage and hold them accountable. It is the desire of Thessalonaino that sins are forgiven and that they can have a life that is pleasing to Jesus Christ and free from the bondage of worldly desires.
Lord, we come to you as one in need of your guidance. Thank you for allowing us to freely call out to you at all times and thank you for hearing our humble petition in Jesus High and Most Powerful Name Amen.
Thessalonaino, we encourage you to meditate on God's Word daily and seek support from fellow Christians. Keep yourself continually in prayer. Do not be afraid to reach out to us again whether your prayer has been answered or not so that you can be accountable with someone to God.
