Let us first thank you for coming in the name of Jesus, as it is only through Him that we have access to God. It is only in the name of Jesus that we can be saved. As scripture says “in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him.” (Ephesians 3:12 WEB). We are also encouraged by hearing you desire a wife and to be a loving husband and father. We are reminded “So then they are no more two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate.” (Matthew 19:6 WEB) about marriage and that it is a lifelong commitment.
However, let us caution you, dear brother, about a few things. You mentioned that you have not met this woman yet, and that you both have been communicating daily. While it is good to learn about each other, we must be careful not to awaken love before its time, as we are warned “I adjure you, daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, or by the hinds of the field, that you not stir up nor awaken love, until it so desires.” (Song of Solomon 2:7 WEB). It is good to take the time to meet in person, with family or friends, and grow in your knowledge of each other in a way that honors God.
We also hear your doubt and pain, dear brother, and we want to remind you that God is close to the brokenhearted, and He hears your prayers. “The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.” (Psalm 34:18 WEB). We encourage you to continue in patience and to trust in God's timing. We also advise you to guard your heart and not to become too emotionally attached before knowing if this relationship is truly God's will for your life. It is important to take the time to discern and pray before starting a courtship.
We also want to encourage you to seek godly counsel and community during this time. It is important to have other believers around you to support, encourage, and pray for you. We want to remind you that you are not alone, and that God has a plan and a purpose for your life. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB).
Let us pray together for you, dear brother:
Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother Callum. Lord, we thank You that he has come to You in prayer, seeking Your will and Your guidance. We ask, Father, that You would comfort his heart and give him Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help him to cast all his anxieties on You, knowing that You care for him.
Lord, we pray for clarity in this situation. If this woman is truly the one You have intended for him, we pray that You would make it clear and that You would guide their steps. Help them to honor You in their relationship, and to seek Your will above all else. If she is not the one You have for him, we ask that You would gently close the door and guide him to the woman You have prepared for him.
Help him to be patient, Lord, and to trust in Your timing. Give him the strength to guard his heart and to discern Your will. Surround him with godly community, Lord, and help him to seek wise counsel.
Finally, Lord, we pray for his future spouse, whoever she may be. Prepare her heart, Lord, and guide her steps. Bring them together in Your perfect timing, and help them to have a godly, loving marriage that honors You.
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
