This is one that has really kept me encouraged. I have read it over and over! My prayer is that you will receive it deep in your Spirit!
Are You Struggling About Standing For Your Marriage?
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood... Ephesians 6:12
Are you struggling on this Sunday in standing for your marriage to be restored? How are you doing in praying, fighting the enemy and believing your Lord that your marriage will be restored? Are you losing hope due to your circumstances? Let me share a scripture that I pray you will memorize this week for you to know forever:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:10-12
My question for you today is, "Do you understand the meaning and the importance of the scripture in Ephesians 6:10-13?" This was one of the very first principles that my Lord taught me. Bob was not my enemy. This is a spiritual battle with Satan and a host of evil spirits. These powers of darkness are the spiritual forces of evil. I was not to react or allow the enemy to torment my mind with all the imaginations that "may be" going on in my husband's life! You are to lay your husband or wife, the other person and your children at the Lord's feet every day or every hour and tell the Lord that you are trusting Him to block and stop the enemy. You then must be faithful in praying and fasting. Let me strongly suggest you pray different scriptures with your spouse's name in them daily. Remember that God's Word does not return void. During my stand, the Lord gave me another scripture because of my impossible circumstances that I was facing . He told me, "For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37
The next principle God gave me was that all my struggles with my husband were tricks, schemes and plans to destroy Bob and I, our marriage and our children. We were to be another statistic in our church by having divorce destroy our family. Satan was trying to destroy another family instead of them serving the Lord and making a difference. The enemy was also working overtime to tempt me to fall into sin, by not believing and trusting my Lord for my marriage to be restored.
The battle that you face daily with your spouse is not about you and your spouse. It is a much larger spiritual battle that will affect generations to come. Satan is the father of all lies and he is out to deceive men and women daily regarding doing right versus living in sin. Never forget the enemy's plan, but know God is greater.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 1 Peter 5:6-9
There is a war that is going on night and day for the hearts of men, women and children. There is a battle that is going on in the mind of your spouse. You need to have wisdom, knowledge and understanding so that you can truly comprehend how the enemy is attacking and deceiving your spouse by wrong choices and lies from the enemy's tricks, schemes and his false truths. The enemy is deceiving your spouse that there are no consequences to sin. May I challenge you to pray Psalm 51 regularly with your spouse's name in it and then add all the other prodigal spouses and children who are living in the far country of sin. Every day choose to live above your circumstances, by the power of your Lord Jesus Christ.
Has the enemy been attacking you with thoughts of giving up? Are you tired of all the struggles of financial problems, loneliness, jealousy, unforgiveness, having no patience in waiting on the Lord's timing, the fighting and now you are questioning God's will or the signs that He gave you regarding your marriage? Be on guard. Be alert. The enemy will try to tempt and deceive you also! Let me share a powerful scripture for you. In fact, write it on index cards or on sticky notes to remind you how to react to your spouse's actions and words.
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14
Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life. Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. Proverbs 4:23-27
What would you do if your loved one was taken captive by enemy forces while serving in the armed forces? Would you not fast and pray without ceasing, asking others to not give up on your spouse, but pray for God's divine intervention in this crisis? That is how you need to think about your spouse. They have been taken captive by the enemy and our Lord is the only one who can rescue them from the enemy. Your circumstances may seem impossible, but God likes impossible situations to get the glory, honor and praise.
May you and I pray for your spouse to be able to escape and flee from the enemy. Allow your Lord to help train you for battle for your marriage. He is your Commander-in-Chief who knows all the strategies to get the victory; not by having a war of words with your spouse or in a court battle, but by walking in faith, trusting the Lord as you pray, knowing that God is moving on the other side of the mountain that you cannot see. Don't give up and give victory to the enemy, Satan.
Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me. Psalm 144:1-2
Never forget, especially on this Lord's Day, that we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ! Never forget your Lord's power and in His perfect timing He will go after your husband or wife, setting them free from the enemy's lies, tricks and deceptions.
Please remember to pray for every man of God to preach a powerful sermon with an anointing from the Holy Spirit which will set the prisoners free and help the blind to see God's amazing truths and His amazing grace.
...The LORD sets prisoners free, the LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous. Psalm 146:7-8
