ARE YOU LACKING WISDOM? - ASK THE LORD!
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt... James 1:5-6
Do you have questions about personal problems in your marriage? What do you do? How many people do you ask for opinions or tell them about your circumstances and marriage problems? Do you listen to your friends who give their opinions of what you “should do?†Do you want to know what you should do? You need to seek the Lord for His divine wisdom and knowledge every day.
Have you started asking the Lord for His wisdom and His knowledge for your marriage and for your own life? How much better will you feel when you know you have prayed and asked God to give you His instructions, directions, or answers to the variety of problems that you may be encountering now? God wants you to seek His wisdom and knowledge for everything. Then believe He will answer you. Stop doubting and being double-minded in all that you do.
“...My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.†Hosea 4:6
In today’s society, people all around the world are denying God’s truths, His power and His Word. People are choosing to do what they want to do. They refuse to believe that there are consequences to right and wrong choices in their lives or that it may be called sin. Many people are being destroyed by their sinful lifestyles and living in their own small sphere of knowledge.
Society wants to believe that if they do not believe there is a God they will not stand before Him on Judgment Day. Your husband or wife wants to believe they can commit adultery or decide they are not in love with you anymore, get a divorce and that there will be no eternal consequences to sin in their life. Society believes, “If we do not read the Bible, we do not have to know or believe what the Bible says.†The truth is that we all will be standing before our Lord on Judgment Day.
...For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.’†So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Romans 14:10-12
May I challenge you as you are on this spiritual journey with the Lord, to seek God’s vision for your marriage, His plan, His wisdom and His knowledge for your life. Have you started being faithful reading and studying the Word of God daily? You will be amazed by what you will learn. You may go to a pastor or a counselor, and they may speak some scriptures in the Bible, but often they will not take you to all the scriptures that are in the Bible regarding marriage and divorce because of not having enough time. Your friends may know only a few scriptures regarding marriage or divorce.
That is how I divorced my husband, for lack of wisdom and knowledge. My heart kept telling me not to divorce Bob, to give him another chance, but I kept seeking surveys, opinions and went to the people of knowledge. I never sacrificed my time to seek my Lord’s face and His opinion of what was best for our marriage and what was best for our children. I was reacting to our circumstances, which in a few months or years would be history and covered under the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
So many marriages could be restored, rebuilt and divorces never happen, if we would give ourselves time to walk through deep and difficult waters with our eyes on the Lord. Never forget that your Lord is right there beside you wanting to heal and restore your marriage one step at a time. Nothing is too hard for the Lord to accomplish and no one’s circumstances are too impossible to fix in your marriage. Nothing!
Do you have questions? What should you do? Go to the Lord and ask Him to give you wisdom, knowledge and direction for every day of your life. The wisdom of God is essential for a meaningful and godly life. We must seek it above all things.
For wisdom is more precious than rubies and nothing you desire can compare with her. Proverbs 8:11
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. Psalm 111:10
However, it is not easy to attain such wisdom. It is given only to those who are diligently willing to pay the price to receive it. A personal relationship with God is the first step in obtaining true wisdom. It takes time to study God’s Word and pray for His divine answers.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105
Are you fearing God and hating evil?
"To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech."Proverbs 8:13
Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I believe in your commands. Psalm 119:66
I pray that you will hunger and thirst in seeking God, His Word and His wisdom in your life and marriage. I also pray that your beloved spouse and all prodigals who are away from the Lord will seek God for His divine wisdom in how to straighten out their life which is usually a tangled web of sin and lies. The Lord does have a way of escape for any prodigal who will cry out to Him in repentance.
There are two scriptures that you can pray and personalize for yourself and for your spouse to have wisdom.
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. Ephesians 1:17
...We have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:9-14
Pray that your beloved husband or wife will seek God’s wisdom and be obedient to His voice and to God’s will. The Lord can deliver any spouse from their sinful lifestyle. Our Lord God is the Deliverer. Nothing is too hard for Him.
Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways. Proverbs 2:12-15
What is the conclusion? Listen to your heart (assuming that it is not seared by sin), listen to your conscience and listen to the Holy Spirit. Our Lord is speaking to you all the time. Are you recognizing His voice, His signs and warnings? If all prodigal spouses would have humbled themselves first, instead of saying, “No big deal, just one time,†no one would have to experience separation or divorce. Will you seek God for His wisdom and knowledge in your life and marriage every day forever?
God bless you,
