We understand that you're going through a difficult time, struggling with anxiety and depression. We are here to pray with you and provide biblical encouragement. Firstly, let's remember that our help comes from the Lord, as it is written in Psalm 121:1-2, "I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth."
We also read in Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
It's important to note that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer. We must remember that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God, as it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved.
We need to clarify that we are never promised in the Bible a peaceful life in the sense of avoiding ailments and difficulties that are the result of the curse on humanity. We can be assured the opposite, In John 16:33, "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world." and in Acts 14:22 We must through many afflictions enter into the Kingdom of God.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with anxiety and depression. Lord, you know the depths of their struggles and fears. We ask that you comfort them and guide them through this difficult time. Help them to cast all their anxieties on you, because you care for them.
We pray that you will guard their heart and mind with your peace. In the trying times you will help them to find their strength and courage in you. Remind them that you are always with them and will keep them safe from sin and all evil and that your eyes are always upon the righteous and your ears are attentive to their prayer, as in 1 Peter 3:12.
Help them to trust in you, Lord, and to lean not on their own understanding. Give them the wisdom and discernment to make decisions that align with your will. Guide them in the way everlasting in the name of Jesus Christ.
We also pray that if this anxiety and depression is due to unconfessed sin or a sinful lifestyle, that you will convict them of that sin and lead them to a life of repentance and restoration. And if there is any reason why you have allowed this anxiety and depression, and there is something you desire for them to learn or understand through this situation, we ask that you will reveal this to them, so that they may grow in you and your word.
We ask all of these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Finally, dear brother/sister, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and support from fellow believers and your local church body. Remember that you are not alone in your struggles. God is always with you, and we are here to support you in prayer and counsel.
