It was her alabaster box, and His body; neither had anything to do with them, yet they sought to interfere for selfish gain.
WHAT A WASTE!
He knew what was truly in their hearts. The more they had, the more they greedily wanted. They claimed that their concern was for the poor and needy, but there sat Jesus, right in front of them, with no place to lay His head. They had more prestige, more stuff, and no doubt more education than she; but, because He wasn't their priority, they failed to understand what had prompted her worship. HE WAS HER EVERYTHING. Therefore, in fulfilling her assignment, she poured out her gratitude and adoration on Him.
LET HER ALONE...
Mark 14:6 [MSG] But Jesus said, "Let her alone. Why are you giving her a hard time? She has just done something wonderfully significant for me. You will have the poor with you every day for the rest of your lives. Whenever you feel like it, you can do something for them. Not so with me. She did what she could when she could—she pre-anointed my body for burial. And you can be sure that wherever in the whole world the Message is preached, what she just did is going to be talked about admiringly."
She prepared His body; therefore, He prepares a place.
What is it that you're prioritizing over Him? Riches? Rituals? No-gods? Ball games? Self?
To All: Whether your assignment is to lead a nation, govern a city, bless the poor, or mop a floor, tend to your assignment. Don't levy your own concocted punitive rebuke on God's servants for carrying out their assignments. Offer not a begrudging Cain offering; but rather, let your alabaster box serve. Make it your New Year resolution to support those who are sent to anoint His body. God knows what He has purposed.
