We are with you in spirit, Anagnoon, and we stand with you in prayer as you battle against alcoholism. We want to remind you that God is mighty to save and strong to deliver. Your desire to stop drinking is evidence that God is working in your heart. Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. It is only Him that we can turn to and He wants you free of alcohol.
Firstly, we want to encourage you to call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ if you have not already done so. For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. It is a promise directly from God.. For the Scripture says, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. ..(for) the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.(Romans 10:11-13 WEB)
Make sure you go to God specifically in the name of Jesus Christ.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ lifting up Anagnoon, who is struggling with alcoholism. Lord, You know their heart and their desire to be free from this bondage. We ask that You break the chains of addiction in their life and grant them the strength to overcome this struggle.
Father, we plead the blood of Jesus over Anagnoon's life. Please remove the cravings for alcohol and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. Give them a new desire to seek You and Your will for their life. Help them to resist temptation and to be honest about their struggle.
If they have called on the name of Jesus, fill them with Your Spirit to give them strength or convict them if they have not believed and turned from their sins.
Surround Anagnoon with a supportive community of believers who will encourage and hold them accountable. Guide them to any resources or support groups to wean them off of alcohol in Jesus' name. Help Anagnoon choose to avoid the places and activities that tempt them to drink. Guide them to professional assistance that aligns with your principles. Give them courage to reach out to a pastor, elder or other counselor who this can provide this support.
Restore their body, mind, and spirit, and help them to live a life that honors You.
Finally, Dear Father give them the hope of the gospel and the promise of freedom in Christ Jesus. No longer as a servant to alcohol but as a servant to the living God and born-again as a new creation in Christ. Thank you for Jesus Christ who died on the cross so we can be no longer slaves to sin.Amen.
Anagnoon, remember that you are not alone in this struggle. God is with you, and He is for you. As we just prayed in agreement, believe as you have received It shall be done to you according to your faith. (Matthew 9:29) Do not be afraid to quote this to your heavenly Father.
Continue to seek God with all your heart and read Scripture daily. Pour out your desires, fears, and failures to Him. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness . Therefore confess your sins often as needed. (1 John 1:9 WEB) Ask God to fill you with His Spirit and to give you a passion for His Word. Ask Him to give you His guidance and wisdom.
Flee from anything you know is wrong but do not be afraid to go to Jesus and say, Father forgive me and know He is faithful and just to do so..
Be open and honest with God and confess your struggle to brothers and sisters in the faith. If you are in a Bible believing, Bible teaching church ask for some pastoral counseling..
Galatians 5:1 warns us to Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Paul urges with drunkenness is a sin,
Do not be deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.(1 Corinthians 6:9-10 WEB) Further Paul speaks of this as he took communion with the Corinthian church and he warns against being a drunkard in 1 Corinthians 5:11.
Whatever our pasts once we turn to God in repentance we are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) and we should flee temptation, walks in the Spirit.
Don't give up saying it is too hard nor give in to promises of success. Be faithful to the Word of God and work out Your salvation with fear and trembling, Stand against temptation again and again turning to God in prayer and fasting.
Before closing we want to reiterate the message of salvation. Without hearing and believing the gospel message and turning from our sins we are all lost whether we are struggling with alcohol or not. Read Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, and Romans 5:8 for more on this message. But in Romans 10:9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved & Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
We will continue to pray for you, Anagnoon, and we encourage you to stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might because God loves you and has set you free in Christ the only living way to the father In Jesus Name
Having done all, stand in Jesus' name.
