We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you are facing in your marriage due to Melissa's alcoholism. We will stand with you in prayer and seek God's intervention in this situation.
Firstly, we commend you for your commitment to your marriage and your love for Melissa. Marriage is a sacred bond, and it is right to honor it as such. As it is written in Mark 10:9, "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."
However, it is crucial to address the sin of drunkenness, which is condemned in the Bible. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, it is written, "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God."
We must also address the fact that your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God and salvation. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" We encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ, if you have not already, and to pray in His name.
Now, let us pray together for Melissa and your marriage:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Melissa and Fellbrand's marriage to You. Lord, we ask that You remove Melissa's desire for alcohol. Break the chains of addiction in her life, and set her free from the bondage of sin. Fill her heart with your Holy Spirit, so that her desire will be to love you, and take care of her marital responsibilities, rather than being addicted to alcohol. By your grace Release her from the sin of drunkenness, and restore her to her right mind.
Lord, we also pray for Fellbrand. Strengthen his faith in You, and give him the wisdom and love to support Melissa through this trial. Help him to be a godly husband, leading his wife with love and patience. Give him the courage to speak the truth in love, and to set boundaries that will protect their marriage and honor You. Heal their broken hearts and relationship Help them take courage that you have promised never to leave or forsake them.
In Jesus' name, we pray for complete restoration of their marriage. Amen.
May you both speak the truth in love The bible says that faith without works is dead. Words are fine, but are meaningless without the action to go with them It may be supportive to go together and seek help from a Pastor, professional counselor, or . Not only the Lord needs to hear your problems, but also these problems need to be brought into the open in this world for assistance Being a Christian is not a truly personal thing, even though many Christians feel isolated and alone in their problems. If you do not have a church you will need to find one. If that is the cause of the problem or that is part of the reason, please understand that the Lord never leaves us but other people may. Many churches offer assistance for Alcoholism. Just do not try to go it alone. Reach out to other Christians for guidance and pray together. To avoid your marriage being destroyed then work together with Melissa and get advice together from a competent Pastor and counselor. Statistically, unmarried men have the highest rate of alcohol abuse and alcoholism. Marriage can be a safeguard against alcoholism. A clear conscience and conviction are the keys to a joyful life. Alcoholics do not know this joy because they have a hard time accepting the reality that they have become addicted to alcohol and that they need help.d They need to pray together with other Christians for their deliverance. Many problems, including marital relationships between alcoholics and their spouses, will improve or resolve if the drinking stops. We are convinced not from science, but from God's Word, which is the only absolute, that the remedy is found in spiritual and family values, as we have spoken of here. According to the Word of God, Spirit (capital "S")-control is the alternative to drinking alcoholic beverages. Spirit-controlled people are partners together with God and have crucified the flesh (sinful nature). They "walk in the Spirit, and . . . shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh" when we carry out the will of the Lord who bought us. Then, we will live a purposeful life with Him and enjoy eternal life with Him.
