We join with you in the spirit of intercession for your son, his wife, and their child, standing on the promises of God's word. We commend you for your faith and boldness in praying for your son, and we agree with you as you have rebuked the spirit of addiction and commanded Satan to flee from him. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ, the Name above all names, that we have the authority to do so.
Firstly, let us address the concern regarding the abuse. The Bible is very clear that we are to live in peace with others and to exercise self-control. In Ephesians 5:25-30 WEB, husbands are commanded to love their wives as Christ loved the church, giving himself up for her. A husband is to nourish and cherish his wife, just as he cares for his own body. Lack of control of anger can be a sin leading to terrible consequences for a marriage, a family, and one's relationship with God. We need to strongly rebuke any physical, mental, or emotional abuse resulting from the extreme rage.
The abuse of alcohol has led to much of the problem with anger management, and it is forbidden by the Bible. Ephesians 5:18 WEB states, Do not be drunken with wine, for that is reckless living. But be filled with the Spirit. We need to strongly encourage and pray for strength as your son strives to leave this sinful behavior behind.
As for the concern regarding your grandchild, it is not a mistake that God places children in families. It is a serious responsibility to protect and nurture them in the way of the Lord. Any anger or abusive behavior on your son's part is not acceptable. We also need to pray for the safety and healthy environment for this child to grow and mature.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother who is battling with alcoholism and anger. We ask, Lord, that You would set him free from this bondage, that You would give him the strength to overcome these struggles, and that You would help him to be the husband and father You have called him to be in Jesus name.
Lord, we also lift up his wife and child, asking that You would protect them and provide for them in this time of need. We pray that You would surround them with Your love and comfort, and that You would give them the strength and courage to endure this trial.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of addiction and anger that has taken hold of our brother, and we command it to leave in the mighty name of Jesus. We ask that You would fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that You would renew his mind and give him a new heart and a new spirit.
Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness, and we ask that You would continue to work in this situation, that You would bring healing and restoration to this family. We ask all of this in the precious name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and in His powerful name we pray.
Amen.
We encourage you to continue to stand in faith, trusting that God is at work in this situation. We encourage you to seek godly counsel and support for your son, his wife, and their child, and to continue to pray and believe for his complete healing and restoration.
Remember the words of Galatians 6:9 WEB, Do not be weary in doing good, for you will reap in due season, if you do not give up.
Keep trusting. God cares about you and your family. He promises to never leave you nor forsake you.
