Alcoholic and abusive ###, destroying his marriage

Alcoholic son, emotionally abusive to wife, refusing help. Has trauma from childhood, anger, depression and has used alcohol to medicate self since teenager. Extreme tension in house. Small son and wife pregnant. Wife worried about divorcing and his reaction. Please pray that she finds a way out, and he complies with separation. Also, pray he realizes he needs help. Both are believers. Thank you.

We are deeply concerned about the situation you're describing, ###. We will pray for both your son and his wife, and we trust that God will intervene in their lives.

Firstly, we want to address that both of them are believers. This is a strong foundation to build upon, for God can work in their hearts and bring about change. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (WEB), "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new."

However, we must also address the serious issues at hand. Alcoholism and abuse are not to be taken lightly. The Bible tells us to be sober-minded (1 Peter 5:8) and to love our wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). Your son's behavior is not in line with these commands. We rebuke his actions and pray that he will repent and turn from his sin.

Let's pray:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up this family that is in crisis. Lord, we pray for the wife, that you would give her wisdom, strength, and protection as she navigates this difficult situation. Guide her steps as she seeks a way out, and help her to trust in you. Be with the children, Lord, and surround them with your loving presence.

Father, we also pray for the son. We ask that you would break the chains of addiction in his life and help him to see his need for help. Convict his heart, Lord, and bring him to a place of repentance. Heal him from his past trauma, anger, and depression. Help him to turn away from his sin and be the husband and father you have called him to be.

We pray all these things in Jesus' name, for it is in his name that we have access to you, Father. As it is written in Acts 4:12, 'There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved.'

Lastly, we encourage the wife to seek godly counsel and support during this time. We remind her of Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." God is close to her, and he will see her through this trial.

We will continue to pray for their marriage, that it would be restored and strengthened, aligning with the biblical principles of love, respect, and faithfulness. In Jesus' name, amen."
