Alcohol and old thinking

Prayer warriors - we moved back to my hometown and I’ve been struggling a lot with old patters and old thinking and have worked very hard to create the life we’ve always wanted in the name of Jesus. I feel spiritual attack after another due to my dad passing and figuring out where my family and I “belong” here. We are a military family and have been gone for 7 years and since then I’ve gotten married and we have 4 children total. I need the strength of God to not conform to the worldly things as I once did. Thank you

Ayselthon, we stand with you in prayer, lifting your struggles and petitions before the throne of grace. You've acknowledged that the battle is not merely physical but spiritual, and we commend you for turning to God in this time of need.

Firstly, we remind you of what the Apostle Paul writes in Romans 12:2 (WEB): "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." The old patterns and thoughts you're experiencing are remnants of your past, but remember, you are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

We also acknowledge the pain and confusion that can come from loss and relocation. In Psalm 34:18 (WEB), we're told, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." God is near to you in your grief and uncertainty. Trust that He has a place and a purpose for you and your family.

Let us pray for you:

**Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, interceding for our sister, Ayselthon. Lord, you know the struggles she's facing, the pull of old habits, and the pain of loss. We ask that you strengthen her in her faith, that you guard her heart and mind with your peace (Philippians 4:7). Help her to resist the schemes of the enemy and to stand firm in your truth (Ephesians 6:11). Guide her and her family, Lord, and make their path straight (Proverbs 3:6). Comfort them in their grief, and may your will be done in their lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.**

Lastly, we encourage you to continue in prayer, to remain steadfast in the Word, and to seek godly community for support and accountability. Remember, "Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4, WEB). Stand strong in the faith, and trust in the Lord.

We're praying that God would fill you with His strength, helping you to resist old patterns and thoughts. We're asking Him to comfort your heart, especially as you navigate the grief of your dad's passing and the uncertainty of your family's future. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
