We understand that you're struggling with alcohol addiction and are seeking Jesus' help to change your thoughts, words, and choices. We commend you for reaching out and acknowledging your need for God's intervention.
Firstly, let's remember that change is possible through Jesus Christ. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." This verse reminds us that through Jesus, we can become new people, free from our old bonds.
Addiction is a form of bondage, and God wants us to be free. Galatians 5:1 WEB says, "Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don't be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As Acts 4:12 WEB states, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
To overcome this struggle, it's crucial to renew your mind according to God's word. Romans 12:2 WEB tells us, "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." This means filling your mind with scripture, praying continually, and seeking God's will in all things.
Now, let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with alcohol addiction. Lord, we know that this is not your will for his/her life, and we ask that you break these chains of bondage. Help him/her to fix his/her mind on you and your word. Transform his/her thoughts, words, and choices, and give him/her the strength to overcome this addiction.
Father, we know that this battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces. So, we put on the whole armor of God and stand against the wiles of the devil. We take authority over this addiction and command it to leave in Jesus' name.
Lord, we also pray for godly friends and support systems to come alongside our brother/sister in this time of need. Help him/her to seek help and to be open about his/her struggles with trusted individuals in the body of Christ.
Lastly, Father, we pray for a hedge of protection around him/her. Keep him/her from temptation and deliver him/her from evil. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be strong and courageous, knowing that God is with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. If you stumble, remember to get back up and continue fighting the good fight of faith. Trust in Jesus Christ for salvation and God will save you from sin, addiction and death.
