Thank you, Kim, for reaching out and trusting us with your prayer request. We stand with you in prayer, seeking God's intervention and healing in your fiancé's life.
Firstly, we commend you for your faith in the power of prayer and for giving honor to God. As it is written in John 14:13-14 (WEB), "Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it."
We are concerned about the alcohol abuse and the abusive behavior that comes with it. We strongly rebuke this sin and pray for conviction and repentance. Ephesians 5:18 (WEB) warns, "Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." Drunkenness opens the door to many other sins, including abuse, which is never acceptable. As it is written in Ephesians 5:28-29 (WEB), "Husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly." Even though you are not yet married, this principle applies to your relationship.
We pray that your fiancé would turn away from alcohol and turn to God instead. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest," Jesus says in Matthew 11:28 (WEB). We pray that he would find rest and comfort in Jesus, not in alcohol.
However, we must also address your well-being, Kim. It is not God's will for you to endure abuse. We encourage you to seek godly counsel and support during this time. Pray for wisdom and discernment concerning your relationship. Remember, God desires for us to be in relationships that are safe and honoring to Him.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up Kim and her fiancé. Lord, we ask for Your intervention in his life. Break the chains of alcohol addiction, Father. Convict him of this sin and turn his heart towards You. Comfort him in his troubles, Lord, and help him to seek Your face.
Protect Kim, Father. Give her the strength to endure, wisdom to know what to do, and discernment to know Your will for their relationship. Comfort her heart, Lord, and help her to trust in You.
In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
Continue to pray and trust in the Lord, Kim. He hears your prayers and is faithful to answer. Stay strong in your faith and always remember that God loves you both dearly.
