Bemenra
Humble Prayer Partner
Today is Sunday, November 10, 2024.
Every Sunday, I fervently pray my wife (Kai) will hear a sermon that will soften her heart into seeking reconciliation. I often wonder how she can take the Lord’s Supper (Acts 20:7) having done the things she’s done.
I believe God brought me back to AK. I asked him to bring me back dozens or hundreds of times (Luke 18:1). After sending out probably 500 resumes from Maine to Alaska, I was given one job offer, here.
The irony of this job, my son used to play his soccer games at this school gym. On Tuesday, the varsity team I coach in basketball will play at the gym where my daughter played soccer. It’s sobering to go into these places as I can see my children in my mind’s eye.
If you have followed my journey, thank you. If you have approached God’s throne on my behalf, thank you. There is power in prayer (James 5:16). I TRUST God is working.
I moved here with no place to live and no vehicle. I now live at the shelter and drive a “beater with a heater” a 2006 Toyota AWD van. I just paid $500 and I owe the guy another $2200 by 11/21.
A week or so ago, I was being threatened again by the shelter to leave. I’ve complied with everything but every few weeks they threaten me.
I took the paper (threat) to work (school) with the intent to call them during my conference. I called them but I “accidentally” ended up talking too the veteran side of the shelter. They could not believe I was there. They wanted to meet with me as soon as I could.
I scheduled a meeting. I met with them. They had so many special opportunities for me as a veteran. They could /would pay for the deposit, first month and last month, 2-3 months rent, etc. Also, they could buy me household items (dishes, TV, etc). I was amazed. The biggest thing was he went down the hall and told the others “I was now in their program”. So - I shouldn’t get any more threats from them. Did God do that?
So, I’ve been looking for a place but I’ve not been able to find any place. In 2008, I prayed for the perfect place. Soon after. I found the perfect place and I mean perfect. I didn’t even have a job yet but I was able to get the perfect apartment. I trust God will provide the perfect place.
I keep HOPING my wife would contact me. It’s amazing how quickly things could change. One phone call or email could change everything including a place to live.
I’m still door dashing (~ 500 deliveries). It’s been a huge blessing by providing quick $$$ and knowledge of the city.
Last WED, I went and interviewed for another basketball head coaching job of a girl’s high school team. The neat thing is they are a charter school with a lot of ties to the original people of AK so they travel around the state to play their games including flying to their games. I hope I get it.
I have read the Psalms 13x in the last year. The Psalms have taught me so much. The importance of faith, reliance, trust, etc. One sermon I’d like to preach one day is “Wait” . The Psalms teach it again and again. God often answers prayer, helps us so we have something to say to others.
I worked at a church, it’s the reason we moved to AK initially. The church grew from. 28-89, with 20-22 baptisms (Acts 2:36-41). I often pray “God if it’s your will for me to go back there, I will.” He would need to do a lot of work for that to happen.
I still have painful days. The shelter is closed 9-5, so I go the school. I sit in this chair all day. I have work I try and get done if I have the energy. Please continue to pray:
Reconciliation of my marriage.
Family reunited.
I will be strong.
Place to live
Forgiveness impure thoughts
Avoid temp and sin
Yes, I love Jesus with all my heart. TY for reading this, your encouraging words and all your prayers.
