Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up Your beloved child in prayer. They are seeking to deepen their relationship with the Holy Spirit and overcome the fears and unhealthy coping mechanisms that have held them back.
Lord, we ask that You remove the fear they feel when approaching the Holy Spirit. As it is written in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline." May Your Spirit fill them with courage, love, and a sound mind, dispelling all fears and anxieties.
We also pray for forgiveness, both for those who have offended them and for any roots of bitterness or hurt that have taken hold. In Ephesians 4:31-32, it says, "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Help them to release any resentment and to forgive those who have wronged them, as You have forgiven us.
Lord, we also ask for the strength to let go of unhealthy coping skills and to surrender their desires to You. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." May they find rest and peace in surrendering to Your will, trusting that You will provide for their needs and lead them to healthier ways of coping.
We recall Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." We pray that You purify their heart and renew their spirit, drawing them closer to the Holy Spirit in a positive and healthy relationship.
In the name of Jesus, we pray for freedom from fear, the strength to forgive, and the grace to surrender to Your will. May Your Holy Spirit guide and comfort them, bringing healing and peace.
Amen.
