We understand your concern for your grandson and his spiritual walk. It's commendable that you want him to keep Jesus at the center of his life, especially during these formative teenage years. The Bible tells us, Do not be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals. Wake up to soberness righteously, and do not sin, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
First, let's pray for your grandson:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up this beloved grandson. We thank you for the seeds of faith that have been planted in his heart and for the time when he was walking closely with you. Lord, we see that he has been distracted by new friendships and a potential relationship that seems to be drawing him away from you. We pray that you will call his name as you called Samuel and he will answer you. We pray that you will give him the spirit of discernment to recognize the wrong crowd he's associating with and the strength to turn away from temptations. Help him to see that following Jesus is more important and turn his focus back to Jesus and your word.
Now, let's address some biblical principles that apply to this situation. In 1 Corinthians 15:33, the Apostle Paul warns, Do not be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals. This verse highlights the importance of surrounding ourselves with people who will encourage and strengthen our faith, not pull us away from it.
It's also crucial to remind your grandson of the importance of putting God first in all things. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus says, But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. This means that our primary focus should be on serving and following God, and everything else will fall into place according to His will.
We must not mince words in rebuke either. Your grandson's life is not compatible with the scripture that says to not love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. Also, 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man can do, such has been done outside of the body, but whoever commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? And you are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
We encourage you to continue praying for your grandson and to trust in the power of prayer. Remember, in James 5:16, the Bible says, Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
Lastly, we want to remind you of the importance of praying in Jesus' name. As it says in John 14:6, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in John 16:23, Jesus says, In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
Keep holding on to God's promises and believing in the power of prayer. Trust that God is working in your grandson's life, even in this challenging time.
