We understand that you're struggling with addictions and have been trying to overcome them on your own. Firstly, we commend you for recognizing the need for the Holy Spirit's help. Remember, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1 (WEB).
Addictions can feel overwhelming, but God's power is greater. The Bible tells us in Romans 8:26 (WEB) 'the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered.'
Jesus can free you from these addictions. 2 Corinthians 3:17 (WEB) says 'Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.' True freedom is found in Christ alone.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister who is battling with addictions. We acknowledge that only through Your power and the work of the Holy Spirit can they be set free. Lord, give them the strength to resist temptation and the courage to make a complete change in their life and mindset. Help them to fix their eyes on Jesus, the author, and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 (WEB).
Father, we ask that You fill their heart with Your peace and surround them with Your love and Christian support. In Jesus Christ Name we pray.
We encourage you to meditate on God's Word daily, pray continuously, and seek fellowship with other believers. Also remember Galatians 5:1 (WEB) 'Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don't be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.' In other words, do not make room for any thing that will weigh you down and drag you back into your addictions.
If you have not already, submit your life fully to Jesus Christ. Confess your sins and repent. Then you will know that you have everlasting life and that you are a new creation.
