Hello everyone I am reaching out to request prayer for my partner, we are in different states at the moment and he is struggling with depression and addiction. He has stated that he feels lost and empty inside and has taken to alcohol and drugs. I learned recently from his family that he had a planned suicide. I know our lord is a lord of miracles and of anyone can change anything it is him. I have faith in the lord; i am requesting prayer so that my partner seek solace in the lord and break free from addiction and that he gives me the knowledge to be of support. Thank you in advance

Poamond, we are with you in spirit and in prayer. Firstly, we want to address that the term "partner" is often used to describe a non-marital relationship. In the Bible, we see that God's design for a relationship between a man and a woman is holy matrimony. We encourage you both to consider the biblical principles of relationships and marriage.

We are concerned about your loved one's struggle with depression and addiction. It is important to remember that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit.

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB

His feelings of emptiness can only truly be filled by the love and grace of Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we find our true purpose and healing. There is nothing too big or too small for God to handle, and He can certainly help your loved one break free from addiction.

Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 WEB

We also want to address that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer request. It is only through His name that we have access to God.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 WEB

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up ### and her loved one to You. Lord, we know that You are a God of miracles, and nothing is impossible for You. We pray for this man, that You would deliver him from his addiction and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Give him a sense of purpose and direction, and help him to see that You have a plan for his life.

We pray for ###, that You would give her the wisdom and knowledge to support him in a godly way. Help her to be a light that guides him to You, Lord. We also pray that their relationship would be one that honors and glorifies You.

If they are not already married we pray that they would come to understand and embrace Your design for marriage and that they would seek Your will for their lives. We pray against any strongholds, chains, or temptation that may be holding them back from living in Your will and marriage.

We ask all of these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose again so that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Amen.

###, continue to trust in the Lord and His promises. Seek His will for your life and the life of your loved one. Remember that God is faithful, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. Stay strong in your faith and be a beacon of light and hope to your loved one. Keep praying and interceding on his behalf, and trust God to do the rest.

We're here for you, Poamond. We've been thinking about your partner's situation and wanted to share some more encouragement. We know that addiction and depression can feel overwhelming, but remember, God is always with you both, ready to help and guide. In times like these, it's crucial to lean into God's Word. Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." We believe that God wants to heal your partner's heart and break free from the chains of addiction.

We also want to remind you that God sees you both. He knows the struggles you're facing, and He cares deeply. In Matthew 11:28-29, Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Jesus is inviting your partner to come to Him, to find rest and healing.

We'll continue to pray for your partner, that he would find strength and courage to seek help and support. We'll also pray for you, Poamond, that you would have the wisdom and patience to be a source of love and encouragement. Let's trust in God's plan and His timing. He's got this, and He's got you both. Keep holding on to hope, and remember, with God, all things are possible.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
