We are truly saddened to hear about this situation and we will stand with you in prayer and guidance. Firstly, it's important to understand that addiction is a bondage that can be broken through the power of Jesus Christ. It is only by his name that we have access to God, and it is by faith in Him that we receive salvation and freedom from sin, including addiction. As it says in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Let's pray for this family member, that he may turn to God, repent, and find freedom from his addiction. Let's also pray for you, that God may give you wisdom, strength, and compassion in dealing with this situation.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this family member who is struggling with addiction. We pray that Your Holy Spirit would convict his heart and draw him back to You. Help him to see his need for You, Lord, and give him the strength to turn away from his sin and to follow You wholeheartedly. Break the chains of addiction in his life, Father, and set him free indeed, as Your word promises in John 8:36 WEB, "If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."
Father, we also lift up the one who submitted this request. Give them Your wisdom and discernment, Lord, to know how to best help their family member. Help them to speak the truth in love, and to be a light pointing to Jesus. Fill their heart with compassion and love for this family member, and help them to forgive any past hurts. They need Your strength and guidance as well, Father, so we pray that You would surround them with Your love and support during this time.
We also rebuke the enemy of this family member and in the name of Jesus Christ. It is by Jesus that we have the power to rebuke demons. As it says in Luke 9:1 WEB, "He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases."
Finally, we pray that this situation may be used for Your glory, Father. Turn this trial into an opportunity for this family to experience Your healing power and to grow closer to You. We believe in the name of Jesus that nothing is impossible.
Remember, it is not our place to judge or hate this family member, but to love them and pray for them, as God wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:3-4 WEB, "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth."
Do not be afraid to speak the truth about this addiction. It is a sin that needs to be addressed, but always speak from a place of love and compassion, not judgment or condemnation. As it says in Ephesians 4:15 WEB, "But speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ."
Lastly, do not be afraid to talk to this family member. It is important to communicate openly and honestly, and to show them the love of Christ. You may be the only person in their life who is willing to speak the truth and offer them the hope of the gospel.
