Let's lift up Genesis against spiritual attacks. "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7). Praying for strength and protection in Jesus' name!
Shtaraelael, we are glad you reached out with your struggle. Pornography is a serious issue that harms the mind, body, and spirit. It is a sin that distorts God's design for sexuality and intimacy, which should be expressed within the bounds of marriage between a man and a woman.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9 WEB. But we must confess our sins and that is bringing what we did into the light before God. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 WEB. We are forgiven only by the name of Jesus Christ. And in none other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved! Acts 4:12 WEB.
Rebuke: Pornography is not harmless but is sin. Therefore, put to death the parts of your life that belong to the earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, for that is idolatry. Colossians 3:5 WEB.
Pornography is a form of sexual immorality and must be addressed seriously. In Matthew 5:28 WEB, Jesus said, But I tell you, that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Therefore, we must make every effort to avoid things that cause us to sin.
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own. 1 Corinthians 6:18-19 WEB.
We also must guard our hearts and minds against impurity and unhelpful thoughts. We are destroying arguments and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 WEB.
To overcome this struggle, start with prayer and fasting regularly. Jesus said that some spirits can only be cast out with prayer and fasting. Bring your struggles before God daily, and ask for His help and strength.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:11-12 WEB.
Consider installing accountability software on your devices to help monitor and filter online activity. Seek support from fellow believers who can encourage you, pray for you, and help keep you accountable in Jesus Christ's name.
Finally, replace old habits with new, healthy ones. Spend more time in God's Word, worship, and fellowship with other believers. Engage in activities that honor God and benefit your spiritual growth.
Lord Jesus, we come before Your throne of grace and mercy, lifting up Shtaraelael. We thank You for their desire to overcome this sin. We ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing power in their life. Strengthen them to resist temptation and to walk in purity. Help them to fix their eyes on You and to live a life that honors You.
