We understand that you're struggling with an addiction to gambling, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this battle. The Bible tells us that God is faithful and will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear, but will also provide a way out so that we can endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB).
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging your struggle and reaching out for help and prayer. Confessing our sins and repenting is the first step towards change. The Bible says, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 WEB), so we are thankful that even though you have been battling with this for years, you are seeking forgiveness and wanting to change.
It's important to recognize the triggers that lead you to gamble. You mentioned that seeing family members playing online games influences you. It may be helpful to have an open conversation with them about your struggle and ask for their support in your journey to overcome this addiction.
Remember, gambling is a form of covetousness, which is idolatry, and should be avoided by Christians (Colossians 3:5 WEB). It is loving money more than God, and this is something that every Christian must be careful about. We are called to be good stewards of the resources God has given us. Consider the words of the Apostle Paul, For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows (1 Timothy 6:10 WEB).
Let us pray for you in Jesus name:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother Shougith who is struggling with an addiction to gambling. Lord, he has tried on his own and failed, this is too great for him, but we know with Your strength there are no failures. Lord Jesus, you tell us that you came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18 WEB). We ask that You break these chains of addiction in Shougith's life. Help him to resist the temptation to gamble and give him the strength to walk away from this addiction. For your word says, If the Son therefore will make you free, you will be free indeed (John 8;36 WEB).
Father, we also pray for Shougith's family. Help them to understand his struggle and support him in his journey to overcome this addiction. We ask that You would provide Shougith with godly friends and counselors who can hold him accountable and encourage him in his walk with You.
Lord, we thank You for Your forgiveness and grace. Help Shougith to forgive himself and to live in the freedom that You have provided through Jesus Christ. We are grateful that you have made forgiveness possible through the blood of Jesus Christ. Help Shougith to feel this forgiveness and love for him. In Jesus' name, we pray that this addiction be broken and forgiven and that he be set free. Amen.
We encourage you to find a local church that preaches the Bible and surround yourself with other brothers and sisters in Christ who can support you and help keep you accountable. You may also want to consider seeking help from a Christian counselor who specializes in addiction recovery. God will be faithful to complete the work He began in you.
Lastly, remember that God loves you and wants the best for you. Trust in Him and His Word, and He will guide you through this journey in Jesus name.
