'Accountable' - Luke 16:1-2

Jesus told this story to his disciples: "There was a certain rich man who had a manager handling his affairs. One day a report came that the manager was wasting his employer's money. So the employer called him in and said, 'What's this I hear about you? Get your report in order, because you are going to be fired.'"

Luke 16:1-2 NLT

Key Thought

In today's age where feelings and intentions are sometimes given greater value than behavior, Jesus' teaching on being held accountable for our actions seems harsh to many. However, Jesus wants his disciples to know that his work in the lives of men and women involves the transformation of character. [1] Godly character involves not only doing the right things but also doing them for the right reasons and with the right intentions.

[1] Romans 12:2.

Today's Prayer

Father, keep my heart pure and my hands busy with your work. May my true character, my internal desires, and my actions and words always reflect your character, grace, faithfulness, and lovingkindness. In Jesus' name. Amen.
