We are truly saddened to hear about the abuse and gossip you're experiencing, even within your church. It's important to remember that God's heart is for the brokenhearted and those crushed in spirit. He is close to you right now, and He hears your cry for help.
Firstly, let's address the gossip and abuse. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:29, "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." It's clear that the behavior you're describing is not aligned with God's will. It is not acceptable to allow your granddaughter to be subjected to this.
In Matthew 18:15-17, Jesus gives us steps to deal with sin within the church: "If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. But if he doesn't listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. If he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. If he refuses to hear the church also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector."
We advise you to first approach those who are gossiping privately, expressing your feelings and the impact of their words. If this doesn't result in change, take one or two trusted church members with you to address the issue. If it still continues, then it's appropriate to bring it to the attention of the church leadership.
As for feeling that the abuse will follow you wherever you go, remember that God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 91:2 says, "I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our sister who is experiencing abuse and gossip within her church. Lord, we know that this is not Your will, and we ask that You intervene. Give her the strength and wisdom to address this issue according to Your Word. Protect her and her granddaughter from further harm, and bring conviction to the hearts of those causing this strife. Guide her to a place of worship where she can serve You in peace and truth if that is necessary. We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus Christ.
If you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ or an abbreviation such as IJN (In Jesus Name), then remember that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. Jesus is the good shepherd and you need to be praying to him.
Acts 4:12 - There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved.
