We understand that you're struggling with thoughts of people from your past or in general, and we're here to support you in prayer and to provide biblical guidance.
Firstly, we commend you for ending your prayer request in the name of Jesus Christ. This is vital because, as the Bible tells us, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB).
Now, let's address your concern. It's natural for thoughts of people to enter our minds, but when these thoughts become intrusive or distract us from our walk with God, we need to take action. The Bible tells us, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things" (Philippians 4:8 WEB).
If you're dwelling on past relationships, it's important to remember that if those relationships did not honor God, then they should not be pursued or dwelled upon. Instead, focus on God's will for your life. We are called to have a higher mindset by the Bible by setting our affections on things above. Instead, think about God's future for yourself. Like in Jeremiah 29:11 (WEB) which reads For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up our brother/sister in Christ. Lord, you know the struggles they're facing with thoughts of people from their past and in general. We ask, Lord, that you help them fix their minds on you and on the things that are pure, lovely, and of good report. Help them shake off the past if it did not honor you God. Give them strength and discipline to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Guide them to a blessed future. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged, stand firm in your faith, and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. If you continue to read Christian scriptures, your mind will be renewed by God. If you have never read the Bible in its entirety before, we recommend reading it from cover to cover. It is God's word and will help you in every area of life.
