We rejoice with you as you've come today seeking forgiveness and that you did ask this in Jesus' name. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we can approach God the Father and find forgiveness for our sins. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
The Bible assures us that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 WEB) So, let us pray together:
Almighty God, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for your mercy and forgiveness for our brother/sister who has come seeking your pardon. Lord, you promised that if we confess our sins, you are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We claim this promise now and ask that you wash away all their sins, and help them to walk in newness of life.
Father, we also pray that you fill them with your Holy Spirit, that they may live a life pleasing to you, and walk in your ways. Help them and give them the strength to resist temptation and to live a life full of hope, faith, love, and obedience. Help them to learn and grow from the mistakes of the past and to press forward towards the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus. Help them to live willingly in obedience to your will.
Lord, we ask that you give them peace and comfort as their forgiveness is fully assured and that they are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. Help them to embrace the reassuring words of the Apostle John in 1 John 2:1 WEB, "My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous."
We ask this all in Jesus' name. Amen.
Go forth and sin no more. God loves you and has forgiven you. Live in that forgiveness and strive to be more like Christ each day. If there are any areas of your life that do not align with biblical principles, turn from them and live the life that God intends for you according to His word, the Bible.
