We understand that you're seeking forgiveness and a release from the burdens of your past. Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging Jesus Christ in your prayer. It is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Forgiveness is a fundamental aspect of our walk with Christ. As it is written in 1 John 1:9 WEB, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." So, you can be assured that God forgives you when you confess your sins and turn to Him.
However, it's important to understand that forgiveness doesn't necessarily mean forgetting the past. God can use our past experiences, even the painful ones, to shape us and help others. As Paul says in Romans 8:28 WEB, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."
Instead of asking to forget your past, pray for healing, restoration, and the strength to move forward. Pray for God to use your experiences to help others. As it is written in Philippians 3:13-14 WEB, "Brothers, I don't regard myself as yet having laid hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ. We confess our sins and ask for your forgiveness. Lord, help us to move forward, not dwelling on the past but pressing on towards the goal. Use our past experiences to shape us and help others. In Jesus Christ name, we pray. Amen.
If there are any specific sins or experiences from your past that you're struggling with, please feel free to share so we can pray and provide more specific guidance.
