We join you in your heartfelt prayer, Anonymous, as you seek forgiveness and spiritual growth. It is wonderful that you acknowledged the name of Jesus Christ, as it is only through Him that we have access to God. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Firstly, let us address the issue of selfishness. It is important to remember that God calls us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves, as Jesus taught in Mark 12:30-31 WEB. The Apostle Paul also warns us in Philippians 2:3 WEB, "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves." To overcome selfishness, we must continually fix our eyes on Jesus and seek His heart for others.
Regarding your plea to avoid comparing yourself to others, we find wisdom in Galatians 6:4-5 WEB, "But let each one test his own work, and then he will take pride in himself and not in his neighbor. For each one will bear his own burden." It is essential to focus on our own journey with Christ and not get sidetracked by comparing ourselves to others.
In seeking to hope in God more and find your joy in Him, be encouraged by Psalm 42:5-6 WEB, "Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence. My God, my soul is in despair within me. Therefore I remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon, from the hill Mizar." Even in times of despair, we can find hope and joy in His presence.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Anonymous. Lord, forgive their sins and remove all selfishness from their heart and mind. Soften their heart, Lord, and help them not to compare themselves to others. Help them to hope in You more and to fully find their joy in You. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
Continue to pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, and always remember that it is through His name that we are saved and have access to God. Keep growing in His grace and knowledge, and may your life be a testimony to His love and faithfulness.
