We understand that you're dealing with a troublesome situation involving a dysfunctional family that is causing you much stress. We want to encourage you with God's Word and lift you up in prayer.
Firstly, let's remember what the WEB version of the Bible says in Proverbs 16:7, "When a man's ways please Yahweh, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him." And in Romans 12:18, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men."
While you cannot change their behavior, you can pray for wisdom and grace to navigate this situation. Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it says in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" It is also only through Jesus that we can be saved. It is our hope that you have believed and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Let's pray together:
"Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is dealing with a stressful situation. We realize and humbly acknowledge it is only by your grace and power we can be saved or have access to you. Lord, we pray for your intervention, that you would grant our dear brother/sister wisdom and discernment in handling this dysfunctional family. We pray that you would soften the hearts of this family, that they may seek to understand and change their ways.
We also pray for our brother's/sister's strength and peace, that they may endure this trial with patience and grace. We ask that you provide a way out of this stressful situation, Lord, according to your will.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
In the meantime, continue to show them, as best you can, love and kindness, for we read in Romans 2:4, "Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?"
Lastly, do not forget that we are called to forgive, as it says in Matthew 6:14-15, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." This can be difficult, but with God's help, all things are possible.
We realize it is hard to break away from them due to job-related and other commitments. However, we pray that God will make a way of escape for you. We also pray that you will be able to set boundaries to protect your nerves and have peace.
