We understand your feelings of despondency and the desire for change, especially when you've been consistent in your efforts but see little growth or return. It's commendable that you're seeking more of the Lord and wanting to understand His will. Let's turn to the Scriptures for guidance and encouragement.
Firstly, it's crucial to remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world's darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms Ephesians 6:12. This means that our feelings of frustration and lack of progress could be a result of spiritual warfare, not just physical or emotional exhaustion.
In times like these, it's important to remember that God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. As it is written, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts Isaiah 55:9." We are encouraged to trust God even when we don't understand His ways. Our responsibility is to trust and obey, as the hymn reminds us.
It is always good to examine ourselves and ensure we are following God's will. Apostle Paul instructs us to examine ourselves to see whether we are in the faith; test your own selves 2 Corinthians 13:5. This could involve more prayer, fasting, reading, and studying, as you've mentioned. But remember, these are not mere rituals to gain God's favor; they are disciplines to draw us closer to Him and align our hearts with His. Make sure you are not just being busy with these things but that it is changing your heart.
It's also important to remember that God's timing is perfect. He is never late. Habakkuk 2:3 tells us, "For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won't prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won't delay." Don't let a sense of urgency overtake God's peace.
We are called to persevere in our faith. James 1:2-4 reminds us, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."
Finally, we want to encourage you to continue preaching the Word. As it is written, "Preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching 2 Timothy 4:2." even if you don't see the fruit of your labor immediately. God's Word does not return void.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother in Christ who is feeling despondent and tired. We pray that You will renew his strength and fill him with Your wisdom and understanding. Help him to discern Your will and to trust in Your perfect timing. Give him the grace to persevere in his faith and to continue preaching Your Word with boldness and conviction. Stir up the gifts within him and give him a fresh anointing to minister to Your people. We rebuke any spirit of discouragement, frustration, or weariness that may be attacking him, and we declare victory in his life through the power of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus Christ's name. We pray that your servant will be on fire for You and will be filled with the Holy Spirit as he diligently seeks Your face.
Thank you for your grace and mercy. In Jesus' name, Amen.
